Since 16 inch monitors are either very expensive or non existent where I live, I built one myself using an old laptop screen.

Hmm, maybe something like this is the solution for a small high res OLED. Right now 27″ is where most monitors are at, but there are laptop panel assemblies with high hz and 1440p+ plus in sub 24″ sizes.

My 2nd monitor is an old caravan-size tv I found next to the road.

    Great work!

Reusing the hinge bracket to mount it it to the pole with a dowel looks clean AF my guy. 🫡

I’ve got an old hp omen that I’m gonna tear down for a similar project for my bed-arm. Currently using a 10inch and although it’s fine at near distance, it’s still comically small.

Cool project. No shade but I am curious why you wanted a 16″?

I always love watching talented people talent themselves right out of bad situations. Good job!

Idk if i have the same display controller board but i tried it on a screen from an acer aspire 3 and the best it could do was a black screen
Bot to mention that it forced 1080p and 8 bit colour depth when the screen could do 768p and 6 bit colour

Oooohhhh, that’s nice! I wanna build a DIY portable monitor eventually as well as it’s way cheaper than buying one from Amazon and you can get better specs if you know where to look.

You can buy small portable monitors in AliExpress and it’s quite cheap

it’s a good idea for sure but sadly in some countries buying that controller board costs the same as a used or new cheap monitor. not always worth it
