That top quote is indeed an internet moment. People use that everywhere to say how stupid that CEO is.
Although it’s context was that they made a shitton of money over Ubisoft+ subscribtion even they themselves didn’t expect that much. So he was saying that going full Gamepass-like route is the way and gamers would be renting games like Gamepass, EA Play or Ubisoft+ rather than buying.
This was also the same announcement which they are making Ubisoft+ Classic tier just like EA Play and EA Play Pro.
Buuuuut, for some reason memes got stuck on that single sentence and got their headcanon going wild. That CEO is already happy with their Ubisoft+ revenue and aim to get more subscribers and smartasses in Reddit goes like “Meh, we wouldn’t buy ubisoft games anyway”.

I remember the days, when DLC was meant for games of 1-2 yrs old, to bring some fresh life to them. Where paying for skins was something only found in free games. Or like that a battle pas was only in F2P games.
