Yeah, I’m pretty sure every time I was ever laid off, some corporate bigwig had come through the office just before. I think it’s more fun for them if they have a picture in their heads of whose lives they’re ruining.

News made it sound like the studio held a “thanks for the memories” moment for him when in fact he jumped ship a few days before it slammed into an iceberg.
I used to work for a company that was global and the one or two times the CEO came in was nerve racking.
Maybe he just forgot to mention …

This is sad, I feel sorry for these people. There will be at least one person in that photo that gave their absolute all day in day out and they just had the rug pulled out from under them for their efforts.
look at these happy people who had their dream job one day and the next day were thrown out into the worst job market in recent history.

You have to be a sociopath to be a CEO now a days. Never trust anything a CEO or someone aiming to go in to that line of work says to you.
something similar happened to me at my company. top guy comes in, has a great time… said they wanted to get to know the department better. a month later 40% of us are cut
They delivered 0 games in 5 years.
Even what they did before that was mediocre at best (their greatest achievement being the shark diving in PSVR Worlds).
What do people expect would happen to a dev that, again, delivers 0 product in 5 years?
And now the employees who worked there know why they had such a “special visit” lol
