I made an account when Battlefront II was free, I immediately deleted it because I changed my mind about having an Epic account. Here’s hoping my data no longer exists lol

So, folks that have an EGS account that uses the same password as some other account (we’ve all done something like this). Get ahead of the curve and start changing passwords. Set up two-factor authentication if you haven’t already.
If passwords leak then it’s only a matter of time until people will try and steal other accounts. There’s too much money spend on some platforms to not be extra careful about it.

Fuck this, I hope they didnt get anything UE5 related.
Im not exactly sure as I am not that technical/hacker, but in theory, wouldnt it be possible to use ue5 source code in malicious ways towards/in games that use the engine? What else could it be used?
Generally, if someone knows and has time to enlighten me on this I would appreciate it.

Ransomware attacks on this scale, along with government ransomware attacks are a sure fire way to get international crime agencies on your ass.
Get those passwords changed folks.

If you use your Google account to login, would they have got access to that?
subnonymous_
Fuck what should I do? Do I have to change every password from other accounts (social media etc) too?

Another reason to use a password manager and stop using the same passwords for every account

Epic says there is no evidence of this beeing true.
Everuk

This is why you should always use 2FA

So that’s why I keep getting spam messages saying just “Hi Epic gamer etc. etc.” these past few days.

I use Steam to connect to Epic, should I change my Steam password?
Charlies_Dead_Bird
Oh no they may have my password for a site I own hundreds of games on…. but they don’t have my payment info…. because I have never actually bought a single game there.
voxelboxthing

Who in the hell is storing passwords in 2024? I’d be shocked if Epic had actual passwords leaked rather than something like Argon2 hashes. That’s like baby’s first cyber lesson 1.
IMC_Recruit
Would this have any effect if I used my Xbox/Microsoft account to make an EA account? If so how do I stop it?

Time for some EPIC leaks…

Has epic put out a statement? I havent found anything
Hustlinmuscle
If I had the address of the hackers I would send them free butt plugs
DeskFluid2550
Epic already said none of this ever happened.
TheGoalkeeper
Of course I use the same password there as on many other sides. But honestly, I don’t care. What am I going to lose? Games that were free and I never play? Could care less.
Obviously my steam password is unique

Poor skillup lol

Epic games is well known to me for its crappy cybersecurity. When fortnite first launched on iOS i made a fresh epic account just for it and hackers started trying to steal my account repeatedly as soon as i entered the game. I had to erase the account and wait a couple months that they ramped up their cybersec game before trying again.
I mean a fresh account with new user/password i was not using elsewhere. Many people were claiming hacking attempts on the platform too.
