A lot of people add on the RGB and other stuff after they built the PC.
Also for 99% of people going above an i7 or Ryzen 7 is pointless as you barely get any better performance in games but you get a much higher power draw and heat output.

I was just trying to help a friend make a build list for his computer. LED ram cost $1 less than the non-LED version. Honestly, I’d pay that extra dollar, I don’t like my computer case creating any extra light than absolutely necessary.

I will never understand the rbg unicorn puke stuff. I can understand one set of lights for 20 bucks but that’s about it. It’s a tool not a designer accessory. Hardly anyone will ever see it!

Is it over priced for what it does? What are comparables for the quiet to performance thangs ( I’ve had roaring fans on my first build many moons ago, and my current build has a mix of Noctua and some fans that came with the case; and it runs quiet even when it turns into a space heater)?

Rgb is fine, but there is highend rgb and lowend like everything else. If you get lower end hardware it does seem unbalanced to go for higher end rgb fans or cpu cooler. Just like its kinda unbalanced to watercool a 60 or 70 class gpu

RGB ram is like barely more than the non RGB versions. With GPU’s it isn’t uncommon for the cheapest model to have RGB.

Well I’m the opposite then.
I’m using a case from a $60 pc from a schools computer lab, Samsung ssd from 2014, psu from my first build in 2014, free 1660, $100 b450m ds3h 5500g 16gb ram combo, and I had to buy a 1300x and a 1060 from Facebook marketplace to update the bios.
My current pc cost me 270 save for the 10yo psu and ssd.
Going to buy a case and a better ssd, and put my old stuff in it and sell it as a 250 starter gaming pc.

Only RGB in my case is the Mobo and Ram. I just replaced my case, I could have spent $10 more and gotten Max instead of Base version of the Montech Air 903. But the extra fan and fan hub wasn’t worth dealing with more RGB even if I could turn it off.
