gaming used to be so simple and fun…no, i did not turn into a terrorist playing this

  1. It’s kind of amazing how Rockstar always seem to get away with selling games that flaunt around what other game companies dare not touch like this. Imagine how many “well-concerned” journalists would get upset if games like Bullies got released today instead of when it was.

I remember this being a banger when it came out, how has it aged?

Rockstar made some great games back in the day

  4. BananaLumps

I played the absolute shit out of this game.

That’s what you would say, terrorist.

Everyone knows this game incites everyone that plays it into ultraviolence and terror.

    Anyone remember soldier of fortune

Being able to hack the literal skin off of the bad guys probably did horrible things to my tiny child brain 😂

It’s been a long time since I thought about this one. I think I bought it on release day. I remember the game being fun in bursts but pretty dang repetitive if you’re intending to beat it. That said, I thought the last level was great. More access to guns and a bit more difficult and frantic than the earlier sections.

Still, I’m basing all of this off of recollections from probably a month after original release, so who knows how accurate my memory is.

This game was trash. It was fun for about 10 mins and that was it. The game play loop was terrible. It was basically a glorified tech demo.

I still have my copy. Sadly I don’t have my memory cards anymore. I remember my friends taking turns to see who could survive the longest. I don’t think we ever unlocked all the levels.

lol state of emergency was great, for about 15 minutes.

“Even pick up items off the street…”

God we were easily impressed back then.

This is the first game my parents took away from me when I was a kid. There was nothing like the shopping mall level.

People still make simple and fun games though? Maybe even more now than ever lmao

I remember when comedian Lewis Black did a review of this game on his Back in Black segment on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

“This game is called State of Emergency. It’s high-minded premise puts you to work taking down a fascist multi-national corporation that controls the country. And how do you do it? By walking into a shopping mall and shooting anything that moves! You see? One person can make a difference! And nothing sticks it to the man like taking out a Cinnabon! Now if senseless bloodshed in the name of anti-corporate activism seems a little too ‘goody-goody’ for you, then how about senseless bloodshed in a moral vacuum? This is Grand Theft Auto 3…”

I miss settings like this and dead rising. I need some malls!

  16. Scottcmms2023

It was a fun game. Kind of felt like a discount gta beateumup.

  17. elementfortyseven

it still is unless you make it complicated

My Uncle gave me and my Brother a PS2 in the year 2019 . That Game was really fun but I only played the first three levels I think
But It was a enjoyable experience

  19. This game was lost in the vault of my memories. I knew I played it, I knew it was beatem up, I remembered the cover but couldn’t find it for the life of me.

I worked at GameStop(.com at the time) and in the wake of GTA3 corporate had us push this game HARD. They had us tell people to pre-order it because it might get banned for it’s content and not be available. We had SO many used copies for years after…

  21. Toothless-In-Wapping

I remember playing this so much and never being able to get past the first level.

    This needs a remake.

  22. ChristmasDucky

Isn’t that exactly what a terrorist would say? 🤔

  23. theholidayzombie

Hell yeah dude. I want more games as specific to a theme as this. That is, nonstop infinite riots.

  24. CertainlyAmbivalent

That is the worst game I’ve ever purchased. Just an absolute piece of shit. God I hate that game so much.

Generally if I buy something and it turns out to be bad I just shrug and move on with my life. By this game actually made me kind of angry with myself. Why the fuck did I spend money on something that, in hindsight, I should have known was going to suck so hard.

    Goddamn. Fuck State of Emergency.

  25. PointsOutTheUsername

“used to be simple and fun” and provides a game like GTA which we’re getting another of.

    bruh

  26. voxelboxthing
