
I live in Arizona and our summers literally try to kill us. Since this is a very spicy CPU I figured it couldn’t hurt to delid and run Liquid Metal on both sides of the IHS. So I took it to the max by ordering and nickel electroplating the Rockit Cool copper IHS and my Corsair AlO copper plate so the Liquid Metal doesn’t react with copper and need replacing once a year. First time delidding and electroplating. How’d I do?

Isnt the 14900 die soldered to the IHS anyways? I thought after intel started soldering the dies (in 8th or 9th gen, i believe) there wasnt really a benefit in delidding with li1uid metal.

I’m going to call this a huge win! Clean 20C drop during R23!!! I have not messed with bios, no undervolt! With just the contact frame I was hitting 95/96C. Now it’s between 74-76C during R23.

Why get an high end K version cpu if the temps are so high? Why not go for a lower version and a non K version (unless you want to break records)?
Back in my day CPUs had no IHS and we didn’t crack the core. And when they got lids, we removed them with razor blades and still didn’t crack the core.

Honest question, if you go through all the hassle, why not go a step further with something like EK direct die cooler?
