Wouldn’t necessarily say killed but it stopped me in my tracks for a few days
My cat loves to brush her face up against things, I had my Wi-Fi dongle coming out the front usb ports and she snapped it clean off lol.
Wasn’t too pleased

I installed an application to watch pirated movies and my pc was full of viruses, I do not know why but they began to use the disk to 100%, I rebooted the pc to format and the ssd never worked again, since that day I learned the lesson.

A possum broke through the fly wire screen on my window and pissed in my open case.
(Actually only killed the GPU, but you’ve got to admit that’s pretty fucking weird.)

I have had a motherboard with MOSFETs catching fire and it posted… So I can’t say it to be the weirdest thing to kill the pc… Though before I learned the importance of a reputable power supply when choosing parts the point of failure was two very cheap knock off power supplies, one of those, causing the MOSFETs to catch fire. Though ever since that accident I have never bought a cheap power supply again.
I had a GPU go haywire with a power surge on a thunderstorm night. R.I.P. GTX 1080 Ti. The rest of the computer continues to work to this day…

Turning it off and on again. Fixed the issue by turning it off and on again…

My “Be quiet! Dark Rock 4” didn’t fit in the old case, and my motherboard wasn’t securely attached to the case, so I laid the case on its side so that the cooler would stand upright and its impressive weight wouldn’t tilt the motherboard. Accordingly, the cooler stuck out from the open case by several centimeters. I just recently built a new PC, and have not yet decided how best to do everything, so my PC was in this state for several days.
Once, when I was playing Overwatch, I was on fire, playing like a demigod, so people praised me, added me as friends right during the match, asked me to join a party and play together. And when there were 1.5 minutes left until the end of this sweaty but victorious match… my cat jumped straight onto the cooler, the picture froze for a moment, and the PC turned off.

Me . when i was a kid i tripped over the laptop charger cable and broke it .
I launched xdefiant closed beta and my pc caught on fire. This is no exaggeration whatsoever.

My PSU killed 4 different SSDs, it was wild, I lost so much stuff. And I bad mouthed the random chinese brands, I assumed they were frying because they are cheap… but nope, the PSU was the culprit all along

My own stupidity 🙂 when I was 9-10 I’ve deleted Windows folder on purpose. I didn’t make it in one click, I was choosing particular subfolders and files which seemed too heavy. I did that because there wasn’t enough space for Half Life… it was my mom’s PC btw. So yeah I hadn’t played HL that night…

I have a UPS for my PC and had a power surge kill the mobo by frying my router and sending electricity through the Ethernet cable. My network card was visibly toasted. My modem and router and now connected to the UPS also lol.

Back around 2002 I had a system with a bad PSU fan. I put a CD on top of where the PSU was and if it started to warp I would take a pencil and kick start the fan. One time while doing just that, I accidentally smacked a hot capacitor with the pencil and it exploded. Smelled like burnt bacon in that room for a few days.

I fried the thing myself, I was a dumb kid and I guess I did something to my HP’s motherboard… plugged it in to turn it on and heard a pop! Followed by a small plum of smoke and the smell of burnt electronics.
Still don’t remember what I actually did to fry my first PC but I learned to do some research before I go poking around on anything now.

Cat went behind my monitor and knocked it over, which knocked my PC tower over, which broke pretty much every single component but the CPU and Power supply.

It was during the beta or alpha or whatever. My hard drive just stopped working. Probably no relation but I don’t like the game for that reason.

I was working on an open case lying flat in a hot room. A bead of sweat rolled off my eyebrow and landed smack on the mobo.
I have never worked on a PC without a fan on me ever since.

Lightning during a thunderstorm killed my motherboard via the Ethernet cable. I didn’t have a router at that time, and the cable from outside was connected directly into PC port.

i bumped the surge protector in my outlet, it sparked and shut off the pc. only killed the boot drive. weirdest shit ever.

Not a PC but I have a good animal one involving a 86″ TV lol.
Christmas time, we had a big reef on the front door. Fancy bastard with a little birdhouse basically looked like a circular tree hanging on the door.
The TV is on but just cycling through images of outdoor scenery. I’m sitting at the table with the 7 month old feeding him. My wife pulls in the drive way so my 4 year old runs to the door and yanks it open, door hits the stopper on the wall. Little red bird comes darting out, at the speed of lightning and I guess it sees a beautiful mountain range and flys directly into the TV.
Somehow the bird was alive and then flys out of the still open door. The TV had a bird sized dead spot right in the center. (luckily I had the insurance package and bestbuy/allstate sent me a Bestbuy giftcard for the full purchase price of a new unit.
