So why don’t you play video games anymore then?

  2. Evelyne-The-Egg

Ah see you forgot a key step.

Find a game that you hate but continue to play so all your emotions are focused on this bullshit ass game that sucks so you don’t have time to think about the emptyness

  3. TrulyToasty

Remasters of my old favorites keep me going

  4. borfavor

Why is everyone so depressed on this sub? There’s so many fun games out there. It should be easy to find something to play with your friends

  5. Just built mine today, the post build clarity is hitting hard.

  6. xX_crucifier_Xx

    Skyrim + mods

    WoW

    Minecraft

    Last Epoch

    Ready Or Not

    Total War series

    Baldurs Gate 3

…thats enough for at least 5 years

  7. Same boat as you, I work 15 days on 6 off. Built a dream PC/setup for about 6k.

When I’m home, I sit there and stare at a blank screen most of the time. If I come up with a game to play, it is short lived as I go back to work and lose interest when I’m away.

I know how you feel. I’ve become the same way with guns.

“oh, maybe this new AR build will be make me happy.”

Get it finished, shoot it once or twice and then never again for a year. I think I just need projects to occupy my mind. The finished result isn’t the actual appealing part.

Branch out and try games that are outside of what you normally play. Playing the same types of things over and over leads to burnout. Gamepass is great for this, as there’s no compelling reason to keep playing one of the games you download if you aren’t enjoying it.

  10. ProfessionalMuffin4

that means that is not you really want.

  11. nismo2070

    Yeah…..I’ve got a 3k YouTube browser.

  12. PeopleAreBozos

Agreed. I not only do not have time for gaming, I just don’t want to anymore, which makes me feel bad about what I bought.

Currently sitting on my bed wearing my Quest 3, using Immersed Pro to have multi monitor VR setup run off my RTX 4090 Just to sit and have reddit, youtube, amazon and movie streaming on loadsa different windows and post a useless comment noone really wants to hear, just to feel like I am actually making some use of all this stuff I bought.

But seriously mate, I know this is just a meme, but they start with a seed of truth. Whatever regret/emptiness anyone might fleetingly be experiencing, you have to remember you were creative and capable enough to make this ‘build’ happen because you succesfully deduced what you wanted and did what it took to plan, save, buy then build.

Jump back into that creativity and diligence and discover new ways to be excited and engaged. We all know you have what it takes, even if that means sitting on your bed in your PJ’s staring at a giant 20ft screen of spongebob floating in the air.

  14. Ah you see, you forgot to upgrade your monitor. I’m sure you’ll feel better then.

  15. seraphim-20

This was me after I got to play what I always wanted. Now I just want to build another one just because. It won’t have any special purpose, but the work towards it was fulfilling.

  16. But why?

I also just spent nearly $3k on a new PC build, but I am SUPER excited.

    1. I am selling my old PC to a friend who never had one, so we can game together!
    2. I get to re-mod Skyrim for the 50th time as a performance benchmark!
    3. I get to re-run actual performance benchmarks!
    4. Maybe I’ll get decent performance in my next BG3 run?

  17. Unkn0wn-Pers0n

Had more fun building my $4500 pc than playing games on it lmao

  18. Drexus27

What’s depressing about a 1 time payment on something that you’re probably going to use daily for at least 5-10 years? Lol great value for money if you ask me

  19. CuteDaisyPinkDress

Games can fill a hole and contribute to avoidant behaviour. But it isn’t going to address the hole, or do anything about the stuff being avoided. It’s essentially vacuous chuff (changing 0s and 1s without any real consequence) — of course it is going to leave one feeling unfulfilled absent any genuine meaning.

  20. Has to be 6k at least to feel anything again.

  21. Hoversuits

Can anyone recommend a mmo or a grindy game. I’ve been hella bored lately

  22. saradahokage1212

I spent 1.6k on a new rug with a monitor and I need to force myself to play exactly those games I built it for. But I know that one day a game will be released that I can just start compared to before

  23. redorkulator

Don’t force it, hop on, check out some indie stuff. It’s not a race.

  24. Minecraftwt

try linux, if you like customizing your hardware you might like customizing your software too

  25. Lelouch_EXE

Now thats where you did wrong OP.
    You should’ve built a 4k pc.
If issue persist, increase price range by 1k

  26. Redditfuckingsuckso3

I’ve got 5 pcs in my house ranging from a 13900k 4090 to a handheld ONEX2PLAYER. I indeed feel very empty. But usually I spend money and feel a little warmth.

  27. cstrike105

I want you to play Red Alert and Generals. I’m sure you will enjoy life again.

  28. spiral718

Empty inside you say, sounds like you can use a hero sandwich. Italian bread, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, olive oil, pepper and some coleslaw on the side!😉

  29. jon3Rockaholic

Yeah…I know the feeling. I definitely didn’t offer $3K on my build. It’s definitely not worth that anymore though. I try to play as many games as I can on it so I don’t feel like I have wasted money lol. I usually don’t finish any of them. Sometimes I find one that I really like, and I’ll finish it, but it’s rare. Most recently, I finished Alan Wake 2.

  30. zerogreyspace

People are getting older here and realising as a big picture for themselves

  31. Helllothere1

Sugestion: Helldivers 2, fix your life, videogame piracy.

  32. damastaGR

    Pro tip:

Only upgrade when there is a game you love but your existing PC runs poorly or not at all.

This way you will have no regrets, because you will enjoy it with all its glorry after upgrade.

  33. lFarCrZl

Freetime is so limited once you have kids. That’s why I play during work 😂

  34. DaemonSlayer_503

After long years i finally bought a new PC in Parts today…

Im hyped for the build and playing games i last played 10 years ago but the pricetag hurts

  35. yeahhhhhhhhhhhh2

Just remember: There’s nothing wrong with investing in a hobby you enjoy, or in a device you’ll be using for multiple hours each day. People spend thousands on going to see a pop star perform, just to hold out their phone the entire time. For a worthwhile passion, and for something you’re really going to use there’s not a price in this world not worth paying.

  36. kriscalm

have you tried elden ring? the dlc is coming out in a couple of months. i am very excited for it, personally.

  37. Hockeymask27_

I use my 13900k and 4080 to play aram on league and n64 games :(. It does run cyberpunks benchmark pretty good. However after sitting at my desk working all day can’t bring myself to sit here and play more games. Why its usually some games on ps5 or watching youtube/twitch.

  38. Confusedmonk123

I have to different gaming pc builds in a cart and I haven’t played a game in over a year. Although there are pc games I think I would enjoy playing
