I remember owning an N64 and dozens of games, but Mario 64 was not one of them. I borrowed it from a friend, got 120 stars, and gave it back to him like a year later. It’s crazy how good hunting them down is and the type of end-game life it gave to the game. I loved Banjo-Kazooie too, take me back!
I still never figured out how to get past entering the castle. I remember just running around the fields trying to see how to actually start the game.

I remember being at 119 stars for best part of a year. 8 year old me went absolutely insane trying to find that last star without the help of the internet. I wanted that cannon grate opened so badly. Second star on the Castle Secret Slide. Will probably haunt me for ever lol.
Now do the DS version with even more stars
