Paid $2k USD for my EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra gaming edition on amazon… I was tired of trying to buy a PS5 and in my rage I quite literally said fuck it.
3080 arrives at my house and completes my build. 7 hours later my EVGA queue for a 3090 FTW3 UG popped for MSRP of 2k. I did not have an extra 2k sitting around and the queue was only good for a handful of hours IIRC. Not enough time to return my 3080. I let a friend buy it instead and he sold it to his friend for 2k.
Do I regret it? Only when I think about it. Do I think about it often? Nah, only when I see threads like this lol.

I have a $750 GPU. It’s a 3060 Ti.
I just hope it dies within a year, as the shop I got it from doesn’t sell it anymore, so instead of a replacement I would get a refund, and that would mean a free huge upgrade.

I survived that horror time period.
I had a gtx 1080 then got a rtx 3090 for about $650 about a month after the release date of the 4080.
I had an acquaintance who worked for the University we had graduated from and he was excited to get himself an rtx 4090 after seeing that the 4080 specs just didn’t satisfy him.
He was just gonna throw his 3090 into his old tech box to put away in his closet forever. I asked if he was willing to sell it. He said sure, he knew I was looking for a used 3080 and just price matched his 3090 at $650. Despite all the rtx3090 still being over $900-1,200 at the time.

4090 is at 2000$ and up where I live. Hell of a money… I think I’m one of those guys that couldn’t afford total upgrade during years of mining boom, and then just went for other hobbies and activities. Maybe for good.

You also don’t need 4090 nothing requires that much power to play.
I still got 3 plus years before the thought of upgrading happens high frames at 1440p is good enough no game outside 2077 ever pushes my system hard enough

You all laughing, but I have got a 4 years old GTX1660 which I bought for an equivalent of $200. I went to see the prices today. GTX 1650 costs the equivalent of $210, then there is a price vacuum and 3060 and 4060, the only mid-range reasonable if I understand it correctly, strangely priced about the same at that, are somewhere between $350-400. Meanwhile, the prices and technology in storage meant that it’s nonsensical to have any HDD anymore. It’s been some time that I had several TB of SSD (combination of several nvme and sata drives) as the only type of storage.
