I don’t know if there’s much interest, but one of the group of 5 author friends that were originally called “the cyberpunks” before it became the name of the genre has released a new book – in June 2023 according to Google, but the first time I’ve noticed it! Military scifi thriller apparently.
Shirley is the most punk of the original cyberpunks (Gibson, Stirling, Lewis Shiner and Rudy Rucker are the others), since he was in a rock/punk band too. He probably peaked as a writer at the end of the 80s and has mainly written movie and video game tie ins more recently.

My only read so far from John Shirley is his Eclipse Trilogy which I read as a teenager first decades ago, and man, was that a wild ride. I still think it’s one of the best and most realistic cyberpunk stories out there. The blend of tech, politics, war and personal stuff is so dense and intriguing there, I needed to read it five times to get all of it.
Added to my queue, thanks for the heads up
He also wrote the screenplay for the film version of “The Crow” (he has a few screen credits to his name also – in addition to his ‘punk writings and music.)
