V was 27 yrs old pre 2.0. They even gave Male V bday as June 10, 2049( This was most likely a nod to the birthday of a character from Bladerunner) and Fem V birthday as September 6, 2049. Even back then, it was weird to give each a different bday.
Now in 2.0, V is 23 yrs old. That just seems a bit tooooo young for the life paths ( a Corpo V that’s known Jackie close to 10 yrs, and was rescued by him from the Cartel down ” by the border”- V was working for Arasaka at 13 yrs old?!, a Streetkid V who tried their luck in Atlanta inat 21 yrs old, and once upon a time acquainted with Padre and his line of work, and Nomad V wont seem seasoned enough to me) . Kerry bday definitely make some sense, Judy’s age seems about right, with Laguna Bend being flooded 15 yrs prior, and I would have thought River be about 32-35 yrs old .
But age 27 for me seems just “right”. someone who’s burnout with their station in life, got hopes and dreams, but not just yet world weary. But it’s their intellectual property, and it is what it is.
Lastly, they made David 19-ish , 20 yrs old in anime, and maybe decided to lower Vs age, as another youthful dreamer taking their shot at the world

In my head, what makes sense to me: – V is 27 or 28, so Dex’ line about not hitting 30 is still true and is present in V’s mind as she pushes that age – Judy being 24 makes sense – Panam is like 25 – River is 34 or 35 – Kerry is like 78 or 79 which would have put him in his 20s when the bomb went off – Jackie is 30 or 31 – Misty is 28 or 29
I think V being 23 makes zero sense if it’s not for marketing. It honestly makes me think of how there are so many books that age their characters down so that they fit into the YA genre despite the characters not seeming young at all. I just don’t understand why that would be a factor in a video game.
