Get the cheapest board that sockets your desired cpu, ram, pcie card(s), and storage options.
You do not need a 790 chipset with 4 pcie slots and 128 gig ram capacity at 7200mhz.
They are inflating the cost and selling you shit you will never use.
Unless you have use case for a feature, don’t fucking pay for it.

My friend always bought expensive motherboards and said: oh but it can do this and this and he never ever used the functions it presented, not even all the memory slots, pci slots, pci express slots and so on.
I always bought something with good chipset and the cheapest or the second cheapest option of it, oh and always Gigabyte, that is all. The average user/gamer almost never uses those features built in those expensive stuff. I think it should support a good CPU, enough RAM and buy a good CPU and GPU and of course never cheap out on the power supply, my power supplies were mostly more expensive than my mobos. There are not much option on SSDs though, usually a couple of options are good price and performance-wise so yeah.

Retail: MoBo is $450,
Cpu is $320.
Price I paid for the mobo on eBay was $172.
I made out like a bandit.
