It seems like a fair trade( for you). You need to make sure there isn’t an issue with the pc you are trading for.
Edit: Ahem i meant to use it as an adverb. I do not think it is 100% fair to the person trading the desktop.
Should’ve mentioned that the other party claims to want something more “mobile.” Facebook marketplace is ridiculously shady, but I figured it was an interesting offer.

The desktop has a older and slower CPU but considerably better GPU.

I managed to trade an ROG Strix G 15.6 Incher with a 1650ti, i7-10750h, 16GB, and 512GB for a custom build with a 3060ti, r5-3600x, 32GB, and 1TB. The seller was aware that he was receiving a lesser machine but wanted something portable so he was all for the trade.
Definitely not as big of a jump between your gf’s laptop and that PC, but I thought I’d share so others see that such trades do happen. If you decide to meet the person make sure they let you boot it up upon meeting and test everything before making the trade, and bring a friend along for your safety.

Just ask for a video of it running and some sort of timestamp with the days date you asked for it so you know it’s not old. You can also have it run a benchmark and ask for the results but he may just want a gaming laptop.
I do second the meeting somewhere public, At least a shopping center parking lot but a police station meetup is ideal.

Seems like a solid trade. Name brand parts too and not dumpy msi or zotac stuff. I’d say go for it. Desktop always beats laptop in my opinion.

I would just make sure they didn’t try over clocking the hell out of it. I’ve seen a good amount of people on the old 1151 socket try to overclock them to meet the performance of newer hardware.
Dude would be fucking himself on that deal but okay, seems sketchy. If you want to actually got through with it, meet in a safe place and don’t go through with it unless it looks EXACTLY like the pics. Might want to verify it boots somehow too…

Have you tried adjusting the laptop settings to keep it quiet? I used to have graphics options that would keep it in standard mode instead of high-end mode (except for some games/Adobe stuff) and that would keep it pretty quiet.
Unless you’re going to make the trade *inside* a police station, I’d be pretty confident of getting robbed of one (1) Alienware laptop and going home empty-handed and sad. That’s a pretty premium desktop to be trading for what is ultimately a fairly basic Alienware laptop.
Much better GPU, more ram
CPU is worse but, between cpu and ram Overclocking, can probably close the gap quite a bit

Assuming it’s legit, that’s a *very* good deal (suspiciously so) assuming that losing portability isn’t an issue for your gf. So yeah, be cautious, could be trying to scam you.
