There needs to be a business case study on how the Xbox was so amazing, then achieved near perfection with the 360 (other than red ring of death), and then somebody managed to lose the console wars by taking 15 steps backwards with the Xbox One. Remember how bad the UX was in the beginning? How chat invites worked only 3/5th’s of the time? Halo 5 was horrible. We never got the E Day Gears we always asked for, and the ‘cast’ was garbage. How did they screw the pooch so badly?

Y’all, it’s gonna be Xbox exclusives releasing on other consoles after a year or so gap. Like Sony already does with PC. People freaking out about this being the end of Xbox haven’t been watching Sony do very similar things for years. And in the midst of being very successful. This isn’t a sign of failure. It’s just the way the industry as a whole is going in general. Same sorta idea with the all digital future Xbox fucked the messaging on before Xbox One. It’s where the industry is headed anyway, but the messaging is making people lose their minds this time for some reason.

This will either be the greatest relief or set in motion the biggest disturbance in gaming History

For someone who was a long time Xbox gamer for 2 decades, this has to be my most anticipated conference in awhile… i just joined PlayStation about two months ago and that decision wasn’t about exclusivity or anything like that. It was more of an change i needed for myself! i’m not getting any younger, and i felt like trying PlayStation for the first time in my life, and so far i am loving the PS5 console just as i did with my previous Xbox’s experiences. and these past weeks has been intense oh my! i’ve been hearing about the rumors and if any of them becomes a reality it would be awesome to see a game like Halo in other consoles, the possibilities of new generations experiencing one of the best FPS franchise of all time brings joy to my heart. my fellow Xbox brethren shouldn’t be sad or mad, we should be happy. because if this really gets to happen it would be lovely to see a lot of gamers saying *You know what? Xbox is actually really good*! let’s just wait and see, stay safe everyone god bless 🙌 🙏

Anybody surprised that Microsoft is moving games onto all platforms should not be surprised. People look at it as admission of failure in the console market, but the reality is Microsoft has broken free from the console market. They don’t have to rely on sales of a console that only loses money on each unit produced.

They make ungodly profits from game pass, and with x cloud you don’t even need the console to engage with their software. With the purchase of Activision and them being clear that their catalog will stay on the Sony platform, why lock off the rest of your catalog when those titles can benefit from additional sales.

Microsoft built their gaming business for the future and are miles ahead of its competitors in terms of business structure and infrastructure. They want as many gamers consuming their software, and get into their ecosystem. If they could get game pass on PlayStation they would do it instantly. For all the console war super soldiers, I’m sorry that the end wasn’t as spectacular or exciting as you would have hoped.

Let’s see what their strategy is. So far it seems they are going for less hardware and more online / cloud based experience.

In my opinion it’s better to focus on a working cloud based system with nice exclusive titels and great game studios instead of a spec packed hardware monster to compete with ps5 / Sony.

All this Xbox shenanigans and I’m just back here like:

“Man I hope Elder Scrolls 6 is coming to PS5 now”

  10. MetroExodus2033

I long for the day when console wars are a thing of the past.

I love my Xbox X/S. Love my Switch. Hoping to get a PS5 this year.

  11. IcePopsicleDragon

Out of all things they could have announced for probably the most important update of the past 10 years, it’s a podcast lol

  12. I have a feeling this will be bad for Xbox fans.

  13. KourteousKrome

Please for the love of God just call it “Xbox 4”.

The amount of time I’ve had people ask “is this the newest Xbox??” when trying to buy one is insane. Just name it as simple as possible and not try to be creative.

  14. EgolessAwareSpirit

Would be awesome if they announced a VR headset/Titles.

Covid really fucked with my perception of time. I’m over here thinking they just released the series x not that long ago. Nope that was 4 years ago.

  16. helloworld6247

Well that doesn’t sound ominous at all…

  17. And after all these apocalypse rumors the announcement will be: we’re releasing some of our games on PlayStation, have a nice day! 😂

  18. SpiderGhost01

I don’t follow this type of news closely, but as an Xbox X/S owner, they’re not exactly building confidence. Maybe it’ll be good news though.

  19. Pancakemanz

I heard instead of Letters and Numbers they are trying colors instead for the name this time

If it really is the feared announcement that Xbox exclusives are coming to PS5, I really cannot foresee Xbox genuinely competing with Sony any time in the near future. When PS5 has literally (almost) everything, what incentives beyond a better games on demand service would you have to buy an Xbox from that point forward?

Phil needs to think about this very carefully.

  21. OSUmiller5

I am 99.9% certain that I am moving over to PlayStation for my next console. This better be great news or I’m done with Xbox. I just want to play fun games and Xbox doesn’t have that for me much anymore.

  22. Mei_iz_my_bae

The videogame industry just sucks now. There’s no competition. All the big companies are just working together (besides Nintendo because they are insane) but it makes it feel rather boring. I miss when consoles had dedicated reasons for getting them.

  23. Ninten-Doh

Do we really need xbox if they planned to bring the exclusives to other systems (game pass)?

I’d rather they just make games and put game pass on ps5, Switch 2 and for the love of god make a native steam deck game pass.
