    Fml.
    Thanks for the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, guys. You turned my childhood games into something more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.

    And this ladies and gentlemen is what consolidation gets you.

    “Microsoft acquiring Toys for Bob is good. Maybe they’ll make a Banjo Redooie. That would be grea—-”

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

  4. I don’t think this means they are shutting down.

    Sledgehammer is also closing offices. But it’s because they are relocating and working remotely

    Looks like Microsoft bought Activision-Blizzard-King for their GAAS games. No wonder Candy Crush was the first studio Phil Spencer visited.

    The good ones are always killed. 🙁

    The reaction to these acquisitions should always be, “Meet the new boss, same as the old one.”

  8. Yeah I don’t blame microsoft for this, I blame activision and more specifically Bobby kotik. Remember he was the one that took so many studios and forced them to be nothing but cod support studios, they didn’t make their own games anymore they just helped support Call of duty and you do not need too many people working on 1 franchise, it’s nonsense. microsoft probably saw that and that influenced their office closure and the layoffs. Do they take some of the blame? sure but the majority of it goes to kotik.

    could downvote me all you want to, but its wasted space and overlap. They could and should have been making more spyro games just like high noon should have been more transformers games or something else other than call of duty, but thanks to kotik and activision that’s not the case

    Here’s a list of studios that work on cod

    * Infinity Ward
    * Treyarch
    * Raven Software
    * Sledgehammer Games
    * Beenox
    * High Moon Studios
    * Toys for Bob
    * Activision Shanghai
    * Demonware

    That’s ridiculous

    Microsoft really cares about gamers.

  10. Just glad that Fred Ford and Paul Reiche, initially known for StarControl 1 & 2, but also known for their long tenures at Toys for Bob, moved on to Pistol Shrimp Games to make a proper sequel to The Ur-Quan Masters.

    We could see a renaissance soon: https://freestarsgame.com

    TLDR: They’re closing offices, not the studio

    Best company I ever worked for. Weekly movie nights in the conference room, free food and drinks all day long in a fully stocked kitchen, and the work environment changed with each new game being worked on completely decking out the walls with murals and decor

    I guess any hopes of a new Spyro game are now dead.

    Microsoft is cancer to the gaming industry.

    Anyone cheering for acquisitions of this nature have never experienced it first hand. It may be nice your “team” won, but it comes at these costs that take peoples jobs and other potential cuts, etc.

  16. fast_flashdash

    Stop making live service fucking garbage

  17. ChuggsTheBrewGod

    All the people cheering this merger better own up to the fact that they let a massive corporation gobble up another massive corporation and lost a metric fuck ton of people jobs.

    Welp, can’t say we didn’t see this coming years ago when they got sent to the COD mines.

    I mean Microsoft have never even capitalized on the fact that they own both Banjo and Conker, did anyone really expect them to do anything with Crash or Spyro?
