I never made it pass the first level when i got to play it on an emulator
BSGKAPO
Me neither lmao
Sonnyboy1990
Love this game. The _BUURB_ noise a boss makes it embedded into my brain.
Still remember the secret room hidden under the left-side staircase in the main hall.

Rented it from blockbuster! It’s wasn’t that hard, not a tough as super star wars!

Start with the bird in the tree and get the extra heart!

This is one of those games where you rent, walk around not knowing what to do because the instruction booklet isn’t included in the rental box, never make it past the very first section, return to the rental place and get another game that’s equally disappointing
Sephrick
Loved this an Fester’s Quest.
Tarnishedrenamon
Got it from my video store a few times, and it is brutal!
Chunderdragon86
Ooof had it on the Amiga assuming it’s the same just ported v.hard for a 7 year old.
blobbydigital
Back in SNES days licensed games were brutal. It feels like any licensed game now is a total money grab and easily beaten in an hour or two. I remember trying to play “the rocketeer” and never being able to make it past the level where you fly around a track a few times.
nondescriptzombie
I owned this. I still never beat it.
It got gifted to my sister for her kids when I got older. I think it was used as a bath toy.
PhysicalLodging
I didn’t know this game exists tbh
WatonWachuchero
This game and the Lion King are some of the most cruel videogames ever. I finished both of them but oh hell… That are tough lol
-Not_a_Lizard-
I played the one on the NES. At no point did I ever know what I was doing or where I was going. The music nearly drove me insane. Fun times.
Havoc526
Rented it for the Sega Genesis. It was…weird lol

OCEAN?
They did the outrun port right?
KlopperSteele
They made a jurassic park one too. They are terrible games.
AefirThrift
Many of the NES/SNES/GENESIS games were brutal in terms of linear progression. Ghost and Ghouls was that way too. As an adult its easier to get back through these, but considering at the time these were most definitely designed for younger players, it was brutal.
KingApolloCreed
Gotta use that 11111 cheat code at the start then die right away to get 99 lives. Helped me beat this game when I was 9 lol
Balbuto
Beat it as a kid, no idea how the F I managed to clear all those games back then

*Laughs in Fester’s Quest.*
MaliciousIntentWorks
Fester’s quest was the same sort of horrible end boss that took a long time to beat. It’s been a long time but i believe the most annoying part was having to redo most of the level every time you retried.
TheRed7
I got this for Christmas as an 11 year old. My whole family would take turns– a life each– trying to complete it. The gondola and kitchen levels were the worst for us. We finally did it, completed the game, and it’s one of my favourite gaming memories. My mum waving the controller around to help her jump like it was a Wii remote in the early 90s 😄. It’s probably my favourite SNES game as a result.
WraithCadmus
I had the very similar Amiga version, without the hidden room of dozens of lives I’d have never made it.
eatthebear
I was more of a Fester’s Quest for NES guy.
domslashryan
I talked to some friends about this game on YouTube when we were talking about our top 10 greatest disappointments.
My sister saw that and bought me the cartridge for Christmas. Guess I have to fire up the SNES and try it again now huh?
earlyaccess976
love this game, such memories
Aghol
It became easier when you found all the extra lives at the top of the tree… but yeah, it’s brutal… haha
PowerSkunk92
Game was tough to be sure, but it’s actually a pretty decent example of a very early, and very simple Metroidvania, considering the house’s entry hall is a sort of hub world to the actual levels.
