Just velcroed this slot load LG reader to the bottom of the case and run the cable inside to an internal USB header. I still have many physical PC game copies. Looks slick and works wonders

Yea, it really pisses me off that you cant put any bluray burner in nowadays.

Fractal Pop has space for 2 disc drives. fyi. I have one, and an internal blu ray drive.

Be Quiet! Dark Base 901 has a place for it.

My case has disc bays. Two of them, actually. It’s a Thermaltake Core V71.

Fractal Design Pop Air and Define 7 have 5.25″ drive bays. And the Node 804 has space for a slim drive. Or get an external drive. USB is more than good enough to not bottleneck an ODD.

  6. My games were long since ripped to ISOs and serve off a NAS if I ever need them again. Anti-consumer protection was removed years ago.

Nice, thanks for the idea. Just did this myself.

I just got an external adapter for my 5.25″ drive. It’s noisy and a bit of pain to set up, but it works well enough for an occasional Blu-Ray haul.

Might steal this if it doesn’t interfere with my bottom intake too much

I have space in my case, but I used it to install the aio. And I did not want to “waste” more money on a modern disc reader/writer. I have a very old brick-sized reader which is hidden in the drawer beneath the PC. I think I’ve used it once in 5 years! And after the old Xbox 360, that’s the only thing that can read disc’s in my home.

The Fractal Pop has space for 2 disk drives and a cover to hide them when you aren’t using them.

Lmao nice, i might have to do this, i was planning on remaking the side panel glass with a pane that can have a drive slot cut in it without exploding, repurposing the internal drve bay for mounting, this is far simpler haha.

I have a Phanteks Enthoo Luxe and just over the weekend I removed the disc drive I had installed because I’ve used it twice in the last 5 years. I purchased a bracket for those slots that can hold a 120mm fan instead. I thought I would use the drive more but I really didnt

I really hate the lack of Optical drive bays nowadays.. I did choose a case without bays, but only because there was pretty little choice of good looking, big cases with optical drive bay and enough space for upgrades.. And I regret it all the time, when I need to rip discs. at least my HTPC still has its BluRay drive, but really annoying then having to copy the file on a USB drive and carry it to the main system.

I did think about building a wooden case for an optical drive though, with a USB S-ATA adapter in the back so it functions as an external drive while looking good..

I need an optical drive a few times a year. I bought an enclosure that I plug in as needed. But I like this too.
