Couldn’t disagree more. BO3 looks so much better. If you’re just complaining about the fact that it looks significantly different, that’s fair; but to argue that it’s a downgrade is crazy.

I actually feel the same way about most of the BO3 remasters. The new ones are so bright and colorful that some of the atmosphere and grunginess of the OG’s are lost. For me the remaster that works the best is Shangri-La where the map is supposed to be a lost paradise of sorts. I don’t feel the remasters are bad however, just tonally different.

I think there’s a Modder out there that’s trying to change the look of the remaster maps as a patch to turn them into their black ops 1 equivalent. I think he might’ve gotten Kino done already but I don’t know if he went past that.

In the Biodome? Sure. For the rest of the map? I prefer BO3 so much more. I could barely tell rooms apart in the OG

Aesthetically, I agree with you somewhat
I will say, though, I do absolutely adore the amount of small details to the environment of the map for Bo3 Moon (and bo3 chronicles in general)
Aside from the obvious better lighting, small details like the experiments, floating tech, and even small easter eggs like the dog bowl absolutely blow out the original version IMO. The only thing I wish is, as you said, they leaned more into the aesthetic of the original. If they did that, the map would be almost an 100% improvement.
I also miss the silent ambiance you’d hear when playing Bo1 moon. it just doesn’t hit as hard in Bo3.

There was always something that didn’t work for me. I think you hit the nail on the head.

I love black ops 3 and the game has better graphics then even something like mw3 (2023) but zombie chronicles perfectly puts it into perspective for me that we will just never see that level of detail and grittiness in modern gaming ever again it’s why I honestly hate zombie chronicles and just stick to SOE and the dlc maps.
It’s just wild to me how in 2011 huds, menus, art style and gun designs were literally superior before we had all this fancy technology and massive studios it’s just sad….

This is an unpopular opinion, but shouldn’t. The BO1 biodome is so sad, barren, and desolate, it fits the map really well with that alone in space solitude vibe. In general I feel like the original maps achieve their desired tone better than the chronicles versions, even though BO3 has better graphics for obvious reasons.

I prefer the new biodome.
My interpretation of what they were doing with the biodome was that it was supposed to be the “paradise” or oasis in the barren location that is the moon.
I think the contrast between the biodome and the rest of the map hits exactly what they were going for… the biodome is where you want to be on moon, because it’s the only place that feels alive.

I’ve only played the BO3 version because I’m not about to spend the money for maps I already have. How do you see in that biodome? Gotta turn up the TV brightness

Thought this was a joke Cos you only showed the biosphere

Both are great it’s just black ops 1 has a certain grittiness and darkness to it that is a polar opposite of bo3s new and original aesthetic.
W@W-BO2 are an ever decreasing level of grittiness and BO3 (and Cold War) is just a pure focus of clarity and visuals which honestly is polarizing and different from original zombies. Even AW, IW, and MWIII have a certain level of grittiness to it. All games are due to its game design, approach, engine, and lighting.
I agree and that’s why I end up appreciating every version of every map.
