Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War will allegedly feature an open world campaign, vehicles for traversal, and even a fast travel system. This is seemingly more in tune with a game like Far Cry and not taking after the ‘Open Combat Missions’ we saw last year with MWIII. I’m optimistic they can do something awesome with an open world COD game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Sledgehammer Games for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows. It is the twentieth game in the Call of Duty franchise, and the sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
Its first teaser was released on August 7th, 2023 and will be fully revealed on August 17th, 2023 in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 as part of Season Five live event, while the game will be fully released on November 10th, 2023.

I definitely think an Open World campaign can work. Hopefully they can learn from the mistake of the open combat missions of MWIII.
Hopefully more replay value comes from these missions (and more secrets/intel to find!

Open world campaign is just warzone with bots. Its a cheap way to have a campaign. Completely ruined the story for modern warfare

Surprised people are finding out now about Xbox exclusives coming to other platforms. They had an earnings call around New Year's explaining that they want to bring every Xbox game to other platforms, including Game Pass. Also stating that they want to be like a third-party company because they see so much money coming in. Soo do don't be surprised these coming months xbox games being announced on PS5 or switch like HIFI rush
So they took the worst parts of mw3 campaign and made a whole game out if it. Great. And prestige somehow took that as a good thing despite literally saying he didnt like the open world campaign missions. Nice.
Obviously 4 years for a open world campaign makes more sense than 16 months for a "open world" campaign. if this is just Warzone assets for the Campaign. stop
From the sounds of it, it seems microsoft is slowly following the ways of sega, going from a first-party console + games studio to a full on third-party publisher. I wouldn't be surprised if we only see one more xbox gen, or even this being the last gen

The open world campaign sucks to be honest. It is just an offline warzone gimmick. They are focusing so much on that, that even campaign is being made so that we get used to warzone. They should just make it original like all previous CODs.

Seeing that Raven is developing the campaign for Treyarch, like they did in Cold War, is actually exciting given that they didn't do a bad job last time.
Ya know, not everything needs to be an open world. Sometimes it’s best to stick what you are known for. Call of duty is good at making well crafted linear storytelling with awesome explosive action set pieces. We do not need nor do we want an open world experience in call of duty.

The disgruntled employee leak seems to line up with a recent datamine for Hi-Fi Rush, which made subtle teases to the idea of the game being ported to Switch and PS5. And with how strange Microsoft is acting with planning out their future in the game industry, I wouldn't be surprised if they took the same approach that Sega did many years ago where they opt out of creating consoles altogether and stick to just making games in the future.
This gonna be awful. With all the layoffs in January alone I'd rather them just skip campaign like BO4 for this game and focus on other stuff. I highly doubt this will pan out well for them but I will be pleasantly surprised if it's even anywhere near as presentable as a normal campaign. I do NOT want another MW3 situation. Shit writing terrible mission design and blatant re-use of the Warzone map.

For those comparing it to MW3, take into consideration that this game has been in development before MW3 released. So it's not that they aren't aware of how MW3 open world failed, it could just be that COD 2024 is too far in development to change it. I would also assume that it will be far better than it was in MW3 given the difference in development time.
