Considering it seems they are committed to shoving Warzone into every single inch and crack they can find in this game for future installments, it’s safe to assume Zombies will follow suit and suffer the same fate. I have very high doubts we will actually see round based maps ever again. MWZ wasn’t an exception or filler, it’s the blueprint for the way forward. What are your thoughts on COD basically turning every mode into Warzone 2.0.?

Even though I’m finally on the end of getting all the schematics and beat Red Worm and T5 Dark Aether and have for all intents and purposes (outside of camo grinding) gotten all the “content” out, I’m still having fun and hope they continue it.

If people want a PVP, Warzone is there, or have a dedicated flag to warrant it and you get like a bonus to your essence or percent off stores or whatever. There’s valid criticism in MWZ, but coming from someone who wanted to like DMZ and found it was just Battle Royale with more steps in the games I had – a purely PvE experience in COD with a bit of roguelike elements, other people in the map I can team/help out with if I choose, is exactly what I want.

Pretty sure Treyarch already said that this year’s Zombies would be even bigger and better than MWZ. Having said that, I fully expect them to have round-based as well because they know people want it. There’s no reason not to have both considering the super long development time the game has had.

It’s rumored to be open world but I heard that the assets will be all new. Reusing Warzone made sense for MW3 because of how little time they had to develop the game.

We have no info on the Zombies but the new lead of Zombies pretty much confirmed that round-based maps will return.

Nah we’re getting at least one RBZ. I have faith in 3arc

This is where I’m torn, if the campaign for COD gulf war is like GR: Wildlands, that’d be awesome that was some of the most fun I’ve had in a single player campaign ever. BUT I don’t want that to transfer to zombies, dedicated round based maps are the backbone of what makes a good zombies experience

    campaign =/= zombies.

I’m pretty sure that open-world maps will still be in zombies in the future (in the form of Outbreak or whatever), but I don’t see Treyarch abandoning RBZ. When Vanguard failed to meet the expectations, they’ve turned back to the classic RBZ mode. They know it’s what the community wants, so they’ll always go for that.

And MWZ doesn’t count, even if it’s fun it’s clearly a mode designed just to provide a “full package” with MWIII.

  7. I’m not interested in Warzone I’m interested in Call of Duty

Just don’t pre-order and don’t buy on release. There, problem fixed.

  9. Warzone is the worse thing to have happened to COD

I much rather get lootboxes over WZ being shoved everywhere

Lmfao watch them copy and paste MW3 assets with different maps. I was under the impression Treyarch is doing their own formula. I guess they saw how much money Activision had and decided to make their own version of it. I won’t even be surprised if zombies are open-world.

I prefer the linear campaigns. The execution of open world campaigns in MW3 just plain sucked and had no soul in it.

  12. SurgeonSimGod

Kevin Drew basically confirmed round based is coming back

I fuckin love open world. Begged for it back when i was a kid and such games were outside the realm of possibility. I’ll be glad to see them implement it for some game modes, all i ask and hope is that they continue to innovate. Copy and pasting warzone maps isn’t the move, even though i’m making the most of it as a player.

Rounds based zombies mudt be hard to throw a PaP machine, wonderfizz machine, a few wall weapons, and a box in a small area and close off the windows. Its not that hard to program when you have a giant map with at least 50 buildings you could do it with………

  15. jinladen040

Eh, they’re just continuing with the trend of open world extraction shooters. Which i’m all for, i just hope it brings good gameplay.

Unpopular opinion, I’m not mad at it. I like the open world zombies experience and MWZ has been more fun than any round based I’ve played.

    Your downvote button sir…

    Ewww

Considering I always found the black ops multiplayer less entertaining, I may be done with cod if true

  18. Treyarch is my last hope. Mwz is a nice refresher but it leaves me wanting so much more. If it doesn’t go well, I give up on zombies and cod as a whole.

  19. ArkhamIsComing2020

Huh? It’s already been said that Black Ops Gulf War and COD 2025 are going to be round based maps, Outbreak will be returning as well.

  20. GunBrothersGaming

So – theyre going the Ghost recon route.

  21. Leafsnthings

Just don’t buy it, save yourself the disappointment

I love the new mode. There’s so much room to expand. Training circles of zombies for 5 hours can get a little boring after awhile. I like that the story is more achievable and not buried in Easter eggs. Although id love to still see some EEs in MWZ. I’d love to see something other than the Middle East. I want the trains running. With all that being said, I do love round base maps. I think Cold War round based was great and I’m sure that’s the direction they will stay with. Hopefully

  23. Dapper-Bottle6256

Idk previous rumors suggested gulf war zombies was just gonna be Cold War zombies 2. I can see gulf war specifically including round based and an outbreak type mode just like Cold War. Black ops 2 sequel is bound to be round based, there’s no way activision can goof that one up lol.
