This isn’t really a post to showcase which season is better but rather showcase, how down bad zombies has been in recent years.

Vanguard’s season 2 advertised a bunch of stuff on its road map..that you would regularly get in one zombies map back in the day, which the map was the advertisement it self because it was a given you would get new stuff in a zombies map. Everything but “terra maledicta” on this road map is just fluff.

MWZ season 2 content is not even day one, but rather a mid season update and it’s just another spec ops boss being added, more Warzone areas with purple filters, a “story” quest which is just a campaign mission with the end boss being the worm again but maybe a different color!

Zombies is in the mud and it’s been that way for a long time

I only played vanguard zombies to get my zombies fix, it was nowhere near as enjoyable as this has been. It was actually among the worst for me if I had to rate it

It’s better to look at what we got for season 2 of Cold War as well, which added:

    – The Outbreak mode. With this mode came several mission types, various activities to do in the open world, and more. (memory is fuzzy, I think the Tempest enemy type was added with this update, in addition to the existing enemy types like the megatons. The Krasny Soldat was added in season 3)

    – a new field upgrade.

    – a new ammo type.

    – the final two tiers to the skill upgrade system.

I also want to point out that Cold War heavily invested in the zombies story and added hundreds of voice recordings through the year to flesh everything out. From what I can tell, when MWZ Season 1 reloaded came out, exactly one new recording was added, and there wasn’t very many in the base game to start with (There’s maybe 15 total).

Like seriously, in MWZ, where are the additional enemy types? Where are the audio logs to push the story forward? Where are the universal gameplay additions (like a new ammo type, field upgrade, skill upgrade system,…a grapple gun)? When are the weapons going to be balanced? Why do the devs not care about this game mode yet they’ll happily claim it has one of the highest player engagement numbers ever (or however it was worded)?

I see what you mean, but I rather take MWZ’s content anyday even if its waiting for mid season. I’m not saying its good, in fact its horrendous there’s no season launch content. But man Vanguard was just another level.

Like they listed 3 new areas which is essentially on the same map. So they split the new map into 4 different items on the roadmap when they’re actually the same thing. Same goes for Vercanna and Healing Aura, they are literally the same thing but split into 2 to fill up the roadmap.

“MWZ is the most engaging mode in Modern Warfare history”, more like a fucking waste of time and resources. I’m starting to think it might affect the whole Dark Aether story, a source said that MWZ would’ve done more harm to it (I don’t remember which source it was).

Treyarch might as well do something else for zombies in the 2024 title in terms of both gameplay and story because this is getting ridiculous. COD should just return to the old format starting with the 2024, like get rid of these Warzone ties and Seasonal content shit already. It’s pretty clear that MW3 as a whole flopped.

  5. I laughed out loud because the second picture was blank (didn’t load yet). Either way, you’re right.

Nitpicking roadmaps is getting a bit tiring now. Season 1 roadmap also has just about the same amount of “squares” as season 2 for MWZ, and yet most people who play it would agree the season was packed with content. That doesn’t excuse the lack of launch content for the season though, but dismissing the content that hasn’t even come out yet is just straight up biased hate.

ew vanguard zombies if you can consider it as a zombie mode XD

  8. I think this comparison is not fair. Vanguard’s launch and Season 1 were the lowest COD Zombies ever (yet?). Until Season 2, we got 1 tiny map with 15 minutes of story. Yes, Season 2 gave us some more content, but that was still much less than MWZ launch content.

I think you should’ve added CW to the mix. That game had a pretty mild launch with Die Machine (I loved it but it’s not that much content), but Season 1 and 2 of CW were huge. MWZ had a good launch and a slightly better Season 1. I’m sad that they have a lackluster Season 2, but the lifecycle is far from over, so I’m cautiously optimistic.

Yet people will still say MWZ is good.

Wake me up when we get proper zombies back.

Why did you pick vanguard zombies for the comparison? Everyone knows how bad the zombies was for that game and the image presenting that the raygun wasn’t only not in the game at launch. But season 1 too.

If you wanted to pick the most recent other versions of zombies. I guess, but i would pick coldwar

Vanguard was crap until they put round based in

    Isn’t season 2 officially February 7?

  13. They finally added the Ray Gun for Season 2 and Vanguard Zombies was absolute shit. How does that look any better??
