I remember working at a place that did custom paint jobs on the MX17.

Well, don’t keep us waiting! What’s in there? What was the build? When did you get it?

What were the specs?

And you lived to tell about it, so go ahead. Tell!

I wish I still had my Alienware T-Shirt. I was working a Toys R Us in Miami Florida early 2000s. This guy comes in and was talking up videogames for kids and I give him the low down on some games including a general warning on GTA 3 which had just come out. The guy was super nice and asked if I was into PC gaming to which of course I was. It was a slow day and we chatted about games and upgrades.
He asked if I had heard of a company called Alienware to which I replied: “Of course, they make disgustingly powerful gaming systems.” At this his eyes lit up and he introduced himself as Alex Aguila the VP of Alienware. I of course didn’t buy it for a second. He shook his head and told me he’d come back tomorrow. Low and behold he did and gave me an Alienware cap and Tshirt. I was in complete and utter shock.
I still kick myself to this day for not trying to get in on the ground level even sweeping the floor if needed. I knew the company was special way back then. I was just too scared I wasn’t knowledgeable enough and would have embarrassed myself.
Back when Alienware meant something other than a shit build rip off

I wanted one of these so bad when I was a kid. I found out you could pay monthly instead of just spending up front. I was young and had no idea what credit or credit card payments were lol. So I figured oh fuck yeah my parents will definitely buy it if my computer takes a shit. So I stuck a 9V battery on my 9800GT while it was running until it zapped.
Lo and behold my PC was fried and my parents refused to buy me an Alienware lol. No more CS:S for me
