Yeah, that’s expensive for any game but it is a GameCube game so that puts age on it. Plus, some obscure games from back in the day are considered rare because there’s probably not that many copies out there. If a game flops I imagine they weren’t pressing loads of copies so there might not be that many out there. I would never pay this much for a video game, though. No matter how much I love it.

Some Pokemon games are like £250-£300. It’s mental, but Collector’s will pay that and more, especially if it’s a mint, in box.
Tyrannical_Tex
I saw a copy of Pokémon Crystal going for £218 in a CEX fairly recently. I think my mother paid £25 for it when it first came out and that was considered expensive! It’s funny because I’ve got a stack of gamecube games and a GameCube but I can’t seem to get offers like this for them. If people would pay £200+ for my copy of Gale of Darkness or Colosseum I’d be rolling!
Ritehandwingman
That’s pretty expensive, but what it usually runs around.

This and Pokemon Coliseum were my childhood
Celtic_Crown
It’s a physical GameCube game that’s never been re-released for modern hardware.
In fact I’m surprised it’s that low. Then again if you exchange it to my currency it’s an extra 100 dollars.
SlightDentInTheBack
its a gamecube game of a niche pokemon title. Probably sought out by collectors but not many copies exist.

gamecube games are really expensive right now. in 2014 that woulda gone for 20 bucks.

With old Nintendo games, especially those tied to big franchises, you have 1 of two options: You get extremely lucky, and you find that the price hasn’t dropped since the game initially got launched. Or you find that the game has maintained or even gained popularity even after the game stopped being produced, meaning more people want it, leading to pricehikes.
This is the latter. It’s an amazing game I have fond memories of. I’d happily recommend playing it. But this is a bit much, so you’ll have to decide if you really want to play an old game like this. You can’t catch the whole dex, but it’s a cool game with a fun story, and what I hoped modern Pokémon games would be. So up to you.

Just buy a Wii and Homebrew it instead

Part of the reason is that there were some unique pokemon in that game (move sets) and people trying to get a pokemon with every ribbon needed to start there.

Whatever CEX is charging for basically anything, it’s always overpriced. I saw used Switch games for THE SAME price you could buy them at Argos, Curry’s and elsewhere NEW!
Salt-Bag-2117
GameCube games tend to be monstrous in price compared to other consoles due to the low production.

Oh, you poor, sweet innocent child… you have no idea do you?

Maan I have that game. Suuuper fun. Imo one of the best pokemon games. As a kid I always hated how static the pokemon were, made battle’s really meh. Absolute blast

I have this in a closet back home and it plays just fine. Not selling it tho, too many good memories.

I still have a copy of this and will probably be buried with it. I loved this game when I was kid.
Unfortunately GC titles are just always going to be expensive if you’re starting up a collection.
mantaco211
Pretty sure it’s priced that way because of the Pokémon that could be gotten and then transferred from it.
Legitimately obtained rare Pokémon are the price here, not necessarily the game itself.

“But surely no game is worth that much”.
There are games that cost this much or more that are modern lol
Escape from Tarkov EOD holds a similar price tag While being something actively in production
This game is not made anymore and likely never will be And most certainly never will be for the gamecube So it’s very much so worth a high price tag
Give it 10 more years and you’ll notice it’s price will have jumped up to anything potentially 2x-10x more the value than it currently has
Even if these CDs go dead globally people will buy them at extortion
ColdNyQuiiL
Rarity definitely inflates the pricing on this.
I wouldn’t pay more than $100, and even that’s pretty ridiculous.
Those rare GameCube games are insanely priced overall.

lol – you’re funny… might want to pop onto EBay and see what old games will go for. To save you some time (for one not on EBay) – a sealed copy of Super Mario 64 for the N64 sold back in 21’ for $1.5m.

Had to get both Coliseum and Gale of Darkness again recently, cost me about $300 to get both. Definitely worth it though!

Pretty much all Pokemon games are too expensive.

It’s pokemon, so they’re going to overprice it.
