The older you get the more you realize some people may just be better off with a prebuilt. Especially friends and family cos with a custom build you’ll be the one they spam for tech support.
Some people have more money than time too, just let em waste the money if they think a few hours of research isn’t worth their time.

I got a pre-built because I simply lack the time to build one and gather the parts over time for it I just wanted something I could buy with nice specs that would last a few years and be good and so far I was right the PC I have no has lasted a decent amount of time got it in 2019 still works like a charm never have had a single problem other than my cat wanting to sit on it constantly.

It’s really sad because it keeps many people on consoles who could have the money to buy a superior PC, but don’t want to feel stigmatized or left out of our community because their PC is a “prebuilt”. PC elitists are ridiculous and keep people out just because of one’s fear of ruining $3,000 worth of parts on their first time building a PC.

Probably my biggest gripe with the sub.
I think it’s fun taking shit apart and putting it back together. Not everyone else does. There’s also a lot of ways to screw up a PC build and ruin hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of stuff.

Question: Is buying a ZBook notebook wrong? Using it as workstation (CAD) at home. I expect it to work 6 jears minimum.

I priced out the parts and it was $300 more to build than the open-box prebuilt from Micro Center so it only made sense to go that direction.
Plus whoever returned it installed a second SSD so I got an even better deal than I thought initially.

I bought a Thermaltake prebuilt at the beginning of last summer and it’s been fantastic. It looks great and performs as expected for the specs with good temps.

Buying a pc makes a lot of sense when you have kids and dont really want to spend 4 days to build a pc bc you get little time to actually build and troubleshoot
