Play how you want not how other guides say. When you get max level and you get the best cyberware, it’s fun to go cyber psycho and fight cops.
DifficultCurrent7
Try not to cry. Cry alot.
Take a break to enjoy the scenery at times.

Walk! Walk a lot of places, driving is cool, but you’ll miss a lot of hidden things. So explore everywhere, alleyways, tops of buildings, etc. you’ll never know what you may find!
Atmoblister
I would advise to do the NCPD and cyberpsycho missions in Watson while it is closed off before doing any of the main missions.
You’ll level up some and get to test the combat system before fighting the first boss. I made the mistake of going straight to main missions my first playthrough bc I got swept away. It is very possible but you’ll be at a bit of a disadvantage, then again, perhaps you want the challenge!
Just some advice! Play however you want and have fun!

Make your choices wisely and don’t do it alone
Drenarka
Get the air dash talent no matter what build you play, in terms of mobility its crazy how much more movement it allows your character to do
And also dont be scared to try weird things and experiment with the game during missions, it wont give you a game over if you leave the area by too much and there is so many unique and original ways you can approach a mission’s objective by just playing around with the environment and using different playstyles

Don’t go to Embers
All seriousness tho, enjoy the ride. You really can’t do it wrong. As far as builds go, I found short circuit and contagion super useful the first 1/3 of the game (a la netrunner) but as I kept going I just started using a silenced pistol (Jackie’s) until I got Pride, and became a headshot honcho and for those times I went loud and proud I’d use either yinlong and skippy (smart iconic smgs) or the headsman iconic shotgun. Also throwing knives is hella fun. I carry a 5++ punk knife cause it has a 1.3(ish, can’t remember exact time) return speed. Gorilla arms is great for opening doors that you don’t have the body for.
Lvl 60 currently with 15 body and gorilla arms but I’m tempted to go projectile launch system and finally bump my body to 20. I’m sitting on 7 unused points for the last 30 hours of gameplay. I can’t make up my mind lol

Buy the armor upgrades from Ripper Doc.
They are vital.

Hot take: turn off most hud elements like minimap and quest tracker. Try to figure out what your next quest steps are based on dialogue, texts and holocalls!
Also loot everything you can. Broken weapons don’t have loot markers but they can still be looted for important components and they will glow blue when you scan.
Keep one of each type (of the highest tier) of weapon that you are focusing on. For example: keep one of each different named shotgun so you can rotate through them and try them all out! Sell (or disassemble when you have plenty of money) all of the ones you don’t need.
Keep all iconic weapons! Use them or store them in your stash. They can be upgraded to keep them relevant!
Regularly sell all kinds of ammo for a good source of eddies. The game will give you plenty of ammo so make sure you never let any kind of ammo get full.
You can max out (level 20) 3 attributes (at level 50, phantom liberty raises the level cap though) if you only invest in those three attributes!
Anything else you want to know?

Don’t rush the story. Try to immerse yourself in the game. Do the side missions, especially the samurai missions.
TristanChaz8800
I’ll try to avoid spoilers, but during a Mission called Search and Destroy, I think it’s called that, DO NOT listen to the objective to leave the burning, crumbling building. Go back and save your friend. It’s essentially a secret objective that lets you save a character that was seemingly scripted to die.

Yes. ENJOY!

Tips? Abandon all future plans right now, you’ll cancel them because you’re still playing this anyway.

Don’t read build guides.
I often do for games once I get in and play a while. I’ve never felt the need in this game. The differences in build are less about effectiveness, and more about playstyle.

Get off this sub. Take your time with the story. Do the side missions and gigs. Don’t start Phantom Liberty too late in the main story its nice to play both at the same time. Oh and get off this sub. Enjoy 🙂

Look inside the reptile terrarium during the first big heist.
Also, trying not to spoil this much, but a good friend can be saved when the floor caves in below you during an attack. I had no idea on my first few play throughs.
TheJearBear28
Enjoy it. I’d kill to be able to go back and play it again for the first time. So just really sit back and enjoy it.

I recommend going for a netrunner type build on your first play through (if you dig this type of game, there will be more) just to feel the power. Explore and if you’re really feeling it do damn near everything. Also if you enjoy the devils cabbage, go hard before a session and lock in. This game is the most fun I’ve ever had in a long history of blazed gaming.

Take it slow. Don’t rush into the main story. You can clear out the jobs in the starting area before you really get going on the main quest at all. Explore, they’re is SO MUCH hidden stuff and cool emergent interactive you can run across. Embrace the jank, the game is amazing, but still buggy and sometimes the bugs are hilarious (I just did a job where at the end the client drove off straight through a crowd of npcs dancing in a parking lot, for example). Don’t be afraid to save scum so you can try different options in conversations – sometimes seemingly offhand comments can have major consequences.
But mostly, figure out the game play style that works best for you, because you can build an effective version of V in myriad ways.
tibutrece21

RicedOutHondaCivic
Don’t kill Greyson, not to spoil anything just trust me. The biggest tip I can say is take a break between the main story every now and then and checkout the side quests, there are tons of them plus it gives you a chance to level up and explore and to take in the lore. Cyberpunk is a very beautiful game take lots of screenshots!
ALSO If you have not seen it yet, finish the game first before checking out Edgerunners!
