‘Switch 2’ Launching This Year With 8-Inch LCD Screen, According To New Analyst Rumour

  1. Don’t care about the screen! Could keep the same screen. It doesn’t matter as long as it’s a much beefier next gen console! I don’t want to be made to feel like I’m playing a late PS3 game on dusty PS2 hardware when I’m full size tv screening Fire Emblem Three Houses!

That will work. Finally, I can put my switch lite to rest. I hope switch 2 to maintain full compatibility with all older games.

I don’t care. If Switch2 doesn’t deliver 4K@60hz docked then I see no reason to upgrade at all. An 8″ form factor just makes it sound bulkier, heavier, harder to carry when the existing 6.2″ display slips into a tote or backpack easily and is the perfect size to play on a flight. I want faster higher res gameplay while docked, that would be the main selling point for me.

  4. Why LCD when the current model is OLED?
Nintendo makes the weirdest hardware decisions sometimes. Good thing their software is still top notch.

What about those goddamn joy-con DRIFT issue!?!

I have a feeling this is the Nintendo console that finally fails in North America. Lots of speculation that it simply won’t have the horsepower (8GB memory in 2024?). I can see it failing to attract young Gen Z’s who have grown up with 1080p 60fps being the absolute bare minimum but are expecting 4k 30fps on mobile games even. It will be 5 years too old right out of the gate, hardware-wise, but still command a $350+ price tag.

Older Millenials buying it on pure nostalgia just won’t cut it anymore like it did with the Switch 7 years ago. Not a big enough demo.

  7. Switch 2 rumoured to be releasing for what feels like the 4th consecutive year.

Put it on the pile of others that “know” what the Switch 2 will have.

  9. At least this time the rumor mill attempts to back up it’s claims instead of “I heard from a guy whose friend works in the industry that it’s definitely coming, will have the same specs as magnavox odyssey, will cure leprosy and launches at 690,69 Brazilian Won”

The Bluetooth module is broken on my 1st model switch and I told myself I’d just wait for the switch 2 to release and get that instead of another switch. The Switch is so old and decrepit it should be any day now. It’s been almost a year since then.

Nintendo makes some of my favorite games ever, but after getting drift on 3 different controllers and playing on a subpar system for so long, I’ve decided to just ignore their games until the Switch 2 comes out.

i wonder if 8-Inch would mean 1080p instead of 720p

  12. So they bring back the LCD screen to sell the OLED Version later on? Smart move Nintendo.

Guess I’ll stick to mid-gen refreshes for Switches and PlayStations. They can’t help but milk the consumer. Why do phones stick to OLED as the standard but Nintendo feels the need to double dip? Just to move more volume? I would expect a next gen Steam Deck to have OLED standard, but I guess I’m more the target audience for Valve than with Nintendo these days.

I don’t care about the portability at all, as I play through my PC monitor. Hopefully it will have better hardware. A lot of its even older games struggle a lot because of the insistence that it be handheld.

wow 2 more inches how amazing, boring asf give us some 1080p quality

Oh goody, a 8″ screen. Need more info than that.

I miss portable portables. Make a launch version that’s a 4inch screen protected by a clamshell, cowards.
