With the latest news of playstation going 3rd party its not surprising to me that devs are trying to get some money from PC gamers. I wouldn’t be surprised if XBOX stop stop making consoles

  2. Dominate in what? Mobile makes more than both pc and console combined lol

  3. Tabletop games: 3%

As a tabletop game dev, yeah—that tracks.

Switched to PC as my main platform a few years back and I see zero reason in owning a console at this point. Any of the Sony exclusives I actually care about I’m fine waiting a year or so to play on PC.

Only other system I might consider is Nintendo’s next Switch for portability if the hardware in it is pretty solid. Hoping for an new Tegra chip that can do 4K with DLSS3.

People may be short memories or too young to remember, but PC gaming during the PS3/360 era was not the same as it is now. You had intrusive DRM and higher than normal PC requirements that resulted in unoptimized games. Piracy was a huge challenge for developers back then too- hence why we saw the market cater to the console demography.

Curious how these data are even collected

It’s to be expected. Pcs capable of gaming are far more affordable than they were a decade or two ago but I think one of the biggest deciding factors is a oc doesn’t get outdated as fast as they used to. So I’m betting more people are willing to make the investment.

I remember in 2005 ish I spent like 2k on a xps laptop and a month ir two later they came out with dual core processors and my 2000 dollar computer lasted like a year before it was basically useless for playing anything new. I have a oc with a 1080ti I got in 2018 and that’ll be good for at least a few more years.

With that being said I just bought an xbox x and I haven’t touched my pc. I’ve been enjoying gaming from my couch with my dog curled up next to me.

  8. You develop most games on a Windows PC anyways. So why not support it, too, as a platform when you can.

If the bulk of the people who responded to that survey wouldn’t PC always be at the highest? I mean PC has always dominated the Indie scene and not really in any other mediums.
