40 series was the generational jump. 20 series introduced RTX. 30 series was 20 series but slightly faster. 40 series was specifically designed for DLSS updates and some hardware design changes like the new connector and the improved FE cooler.
If it tracks, the 50 series will just be 40 series but faster. Nvidia has already stated that they don’t have a specific date in mind to release it. It would exist solely to keep with the times.

Yall really need to get over DLSS and framegen. It’s about visual quality/frametime. Which while subjective, does not just mean “real” frames > upscaled/generated. If framegen can give me a 90% frametime boost at a very small quality/input lag cost, I don’t understand how that isn’t a gigantic leap forward.

Nah the market’s gotten used to the basically half to quarter generation growth we see nowadays. As well as the absurd crypto era pricing. They’ll just make everything 20% more expensive and 30% faster. The 5090 will cost 1800.
The only way. Fake frames are not the same as real frames, never will be. Also, frame generation ONLY really works well at above ~45~50FPS anyways, at which point one doesn’t need it anymore anyways.

I’m confused. Nvidia includes a feature in the new cards that makes them faster. In comparison to the old cards, they’re faster because, ya know, new feature. And the complaint is…they used the new feature in the comparison?
Isn’t that how “improvements” work? What do we expect them to do, be like “these cards are the same when you ignore everything about the new one that makes it better than the old one”?
