    I got The Witcher 3 to run at 20-25FPS on an MX150. The struggle was real.

    While it does suck having to scrape by, and hunt for every frame and setting you can lower to ease the burden on your older hardware, it’s also kinda fun in a way?

    It’s why I’m usually more impressed by these lower/midrange builds, where it’s clear some thought was actually put into combining parts together to squeeze the most out of one’s budget, rather than just going to whatever store’s website you frequent, choosing the ‘PC’ or ‘Gaming’ sections, and sorting by highest price.

    Don’t get me wrong, if you have your 14900K/4090/64GB of 7200mhz DDR5 combo going, good for you. I hope it works and serves you well for years to come, it’s just that maybe I’m getting older, but I get less and less excited about the hottest and prettiest stuff at this point.

    Back in 2002, my first build was great for like a year or two (history lesson: hardware evolved extremely fast back then!), Doom 3 ran but was a unplayable slideshow at about 2 SPF (seconds per frame) until I came across the Voodoo patch (full bright textures with lighting disabled), eventually later games (Splinter Cell 2, F.E.A.R., ect) became impossible to even start due to hardware requirements.

    I couldn’t afford to upgrade and it sucked, but at some point I started tinkering around with the tools that came with NOLF2 and started making dumb little mods that eventually lead me to learn a lot more things that I’d never would have had time for if I was playing the games that I missed out on, later I found the F2P FPS Combat Arms that unexpectedly ran on the same engine that I was able to mod likely before anyone else.

    Oh my that was me with my mx150 a few years back… Until now my friends still do these tricks cause they are stuck on some laptop
