Hi everyone. I’ve always had Intel chips but decided to give the Ryzen 7800X3D a try paired with a Gigabyte A620I AX and the 7900XTX. Been great but my SFF Terra runs hot! I’ve heard of undervolting and DID NOT plan to overclock this chip so I didn’t choose a board with those capabilities. What I did NOT understand is that it also cannot undervolt this chip unless I missed something. Has anyone had luck with this? Or is there a program that can assist in undervolting? Ryzen Master does not display any “changeable” options so I think I pooped the bed with my motherboard choice…

A series motherboards are meant for 65w CPUs, it lacks features and power delivery, to undervolt a 7800x3d you need to enable PBO and use the curve optimizer, sadly I don’t think A series motherboards have access to those features (I could be wrong since I avoid A series MB ) you should consider getting a B650 motherboard (ASRock b650i PG lightning is the most affordable).

    The asus pro b650m will do all you need and more for only $109. It does have the classic green pcb but it makes up for its looks by having an anti-moisture coating for humid environments. Additionally it comes with 8+2+1 phase design, more than good for all of ryzen 7000 processors. I have tested up to 220w load with 7600x with a rather extreme overclock. This essentially means the board will power any ryzen 7000 chip without skipping a beat. Additionally, In a case like yours with that slotted side panel you wouldn’t even be able to see the green pcb and in my opinion I’d say it gives your build a bit of character…
    There are other options but they are a bit expensive I’d say. The asrock b650m-hdv/m.2 is also a great contender similar to the asus board except I did more rigourous testing on the asus one. Despite it being a cheap board I managed to get 7800mt fully stable with a known 8000mt chip, 8000 booted but errores out pretty quickly, I tried my best but 8000 was just out of reach for that 6 layer pcb, this is just something to note, not that it matters much since 6600 in one to one mode will outperform 8000 unless you have a dual ccd cpu which can take advantage of the extra bandwidth of ddr5 8000 and make up for the 2-3ns penalty.
