i bought this pc off marketplace(sketch ik) for $450 worked fine for about three days before it kept shutting off randomly while i played. took it to a computer shop and turns out it was just a stick of ram and since the computer was running hot i got more fans while i was there only costed me $80 to get it fixed. spent another $80 buying ram and $30 getting it put in. so overall im $640 deep and ive been wondering if i would’ve been better off spending a grand on a prebuilt. anyways here’s the pc lmk what you think. (also any advice on how to make it better is greatly appreciated)

I cannot see very well, are those two different ram cards? Maybe that could cause problems. Two graphics on sli, kind of OP (I’m more used to see this in professional builds). If everything works fine in the end, great purchase for that price!

Wait why are you running 3 sticks of RAM? You’d be better off pulling the 3rd so the RAM is more stable. Or getting a 4th stick, but then you’ll still have to deal with getting them to run without issues. You could have intermittent issues down the line, so if you do, start with RAM.

I’d just sell both of the 1070’s and buy something more modern. That said a 1070 is adequate but two in SLI just seems like a waste.

For $640, if you’re in America, you could have gotten a better performing and more modern PC off of Facebook marketplace that doesn’t use dead technologies like SLI.
However, this is still a good PC and you should enjoy it.
Sell both of the 3070 and get nice gpu.. sli will bring you a horrible experience and most games don’t even work like this anymore!
Do the same with your ram.. 2 sticks x 8 or 16gb. Get rid of anything else.

The cpu is fine but old, the double gpu setup is outdated and won’t be able to run games in the next future 530 for this is kinda a bad deal

Personally, I’d pull that 2nd 1070 and the 3rd stick of ram and sell them to make some of my money back. The initial purchase wasn’t a terrible deal, but the extra spent definitely hurts.

Honestly It’s a pretty OK build but maybe not for that much money.
Dual graphics cards set ups died off like 10 years ago. Most modern games won’t even be able to use dual GPUs.
CPU looks fine but what gen is it exactly? If 1st gen then kinda oof, if at least 3rd gen then it’s not than bad.
One more thing, please for the love of god remove the third ram stick. In this configuration you are hurting your PCs performance by not running ram in Dual Channel configuration.

Not the worst deal I’ve ever seen but some of those parts are nearly 8 years old. Your CPU is alright, but you’re going to eventually want to upgrade the GPU. Keep an eye on dust and heat. If the CPU is running hot, consider remounting the cooler with fresh thermal paste.
