First, I know I’m the not the only person to say this
And second, CDPR, despite their shortcomings in design and management, are IMO tied with Rockstar for the most prolific storytellers in gaming.
Exhibit A, my man Slider. Awesome character design. A powerful and secretive cyber shaman whose loss of eyesight seems to have enhanced his ability to “see” the net and cyberspace. Hidden in a crypt within a war zone protected by his wary and hostile tribe so to speak. He is a powerful netrunning warlock of sorts, but even he knows the danger of the Blackwall and dares not even glance at it. Borge Etienne (the same English voice actor of Doc in Cyberpunk Edgerunners) rounds out the character with that cool Haitian accent and blunt sarcasm.
And they fry my boy’s melon after 10 minutes of the coolest cutscene in Phantom Liberty.
Would’ve loved to see more content involving Slider within Dogtown but hey, Arthur Morgan didn’t become one of the greatest fictional characters of all time by living happily ever after. 🤷🏼♂️

I feel pretty bad for the Voodoo Boys in general because they’ve just gotten massacred in my playthrough. Even Maelstrom had a better outcome with Brick in charge. It’s like, shouldn’t there be some balance for the VDBs? I don’t even know how any could be left alive since my V seems to have flatlined most of their top runners.

His room where the scene takes place has great vibes too. It screams Cyberspace Warlock Den.
I love how when you first meet Slider — he puts on this very smooth and mysterious cyber criminal persona. And then when he learns about Songbird using the Blackwall — his whole personality melts to being absolutely petrified of what he just saw. Really goes to show how strong and terrifying the Blackwall is that it makes even the most sleazy and experienced netrunners shit bricks at the mere mention of it.
He instantly catapulted to the top of my favorite side characters when my Netrunner looked at him through the camera and he *shut it off.*
