These are from a German manufacturer (AVM) and they are from my >10 year experience extremely stable and reliable.
I bought one 12 years ago and i replaced it 2 years ago because it could not keep up with my internet speed.

in professional circles, this device is also called a “frickelbox”.

It’s the best, mate

You know you’re in Germany when every single wifi network available says FRITZ!
oney_monster
Yup, used to rent my router from Telekom, every time we had a bad storm it would die, picked up a
Fritz!Box couple years ago and haven’t a single outage
Accomplished_Tip3597
Yes, it’s a really decent router, I use their devices for nearly two decades now already
Own_Initiative396
Its a top tier brand also!
DrKrFfXx
I’m sure it is better than the piece of crap ZTE router they installed on my end.

there aren’t many electronics that let my snake rattle but the Fritzbox is one of them. Network stuff can be the absolute nightmare and other routers are exactly that but Fritzbox really “just works”. You buy it, you setup in 5 minutes, it works and you can forget about it (almost 20 years experience). and it really isn’t that expensive honestly. Asus “gaming” routers blabla cost easily more than twice the amount and aren’t better *at best*, usually worse.
for people who want to controll each and every bit, fritzbox probably isn’t for you I guess

My ISP (UK) provided me with one when I signed up. They also haven’t raised my bills in 3 years.
They are good eggs.

I imagine the second and third places are Hans!Box and Frida!Box

Hab grad “Fritzlos” gelesen.

I got one repeater about a mont ago. It is expensive but it works like a charm.
Used to have a FritzBox 3490 from my ISP before we got FTTP… now they use their own branded Technicolor routers, of which I’ve had them replace 3 times within 5 years now. Didn’t have a single replacement for the FritzBox over a similar amount of time.
lol. I gotta say it’s a fucking good router with great software. Definitely worth the money

They are very, very good. I’ve been using their products since the mid 90s and they’ve never let me down.
Also, their support hotline is stellar. Knowledgeable, patient and very professional.
Some German ISPs use them as their “advanced” router option. With good reason.
EDIT: I used their ISDN cards before the routers came out. Hence mid 90s.

had an issue with my box, back in 2006, with my (or better my parents) first DSL-Line.
did an update, fcked up, called support, total talktime about 4 hours, not including driving to my uncle and download the “recovery-tool”. since back then, i´ĺl die for this company and their support and theyr features in this devices, smarthome without internet is imho the best you can get.
feedmedamemes
Yes, because for the normal use case it is sufficient. Even for more experienced users you can modify a lot of the settings (sometimes restricted by ISP rented Fritzboxes). Of course, if you need to change every possible setting, then yes there are better routers out there. But if you need reliable, modifiable router for the normal use case the Fritzbox is the go to router.

I love my FritzBox7490 it is old as fuck but still got an update to support wireguard. There is nothing better for consumers or small business.
xd_Warmonger
Only negative thing is the company that is producing them (avm) is getting sold soon, afaik it’s horrible for privacy and so on

Im in the UK and im rocking a Fritz!

They are truly, top tier. Marvelous machines, very reliable, very in depth interface on even the cheapest of models. Amazing really.

When I moved into my own place a few years ago, I chose cable internet access from Vodafone because they had the best speed. I had massive problems nearly from day one. The first “technician” they sent was useless, the second technician knew exactly what he was doing, measured everything and discovered that my flat gets a slightly distorted signal and he couldn’t do anything about it. He told me straight up: the Vodafone devices are garbage, get a Fritzbox and you won’t have any problems. He was absolutely right.

Have to use a Zyxel t56 and Huawei ONT for now cause I didn’t buy an XGS-PON sfp yet, but I’m certainly gonna get that, I miss my 5530 🙁 The menu and settings on the Fritz!box are way better!
