What has AMD said out of interest?
Did it have a BIOS with x3D support installed which should have limited the voltage on it’s own?
We just had the same issue on that same board! A system comes in for failure to boot. During troubleshooting we pulled his CPU and tried it in our known-good board and the CPU was bad. Took our known-good CPU and put it in his board and it smoked it. We replaced his MB/CPU and upgraded the RAM and GPU, lost a good CPU in the process (sent the CPU in for RMA since it was under warranty). Never seen a MB completely kill a CPU like that before.

I would go a different manufacturer tbh. I recommend the tomahawk. Solid with no issues man. IIRC I’ve seen asrock have a few problems with am4 the last few years

Sad day brotha, may the RMA Gods be with you, happily you can send in the RMA claim of the faulty motherboard and send that to AMD, who can use that as a part-directory to be able to get the RMA of your CPUs done!
This must be something with asrock, my x470 taichi also killed my 3800x, weird that killed 3800x but worked just fine with my wife’s 1700x
I had to rma an a320 from asrock years ago. Changed my pc recently and almost bought this model, but a z690 tuf ddr5 appeared for 129 on newegg.

possible that B550 boards generally have an issue with 5000 series CPU’s?
Ever since installing a proper GPU, I run into severe hardware errors on my 5800X, if I run the GPU in its factory OC Mode.. I feel like this mainboard is kinda cursed..
Scary day looking at my Asrock X570 taichi… I will not go with asrock again, usb-c header on this board was already a nightmare design flaw that the gpu blocks the header.
I’m currently having issues with the same motherboard and a 5600x, what were your issues that led you to determine that it was the motherboard?
I’ve been troubleshooting for like a week now and not sure what it is…
I also had an Asrock b series, but a 450. Went from a nvdia 970 gtx to an AMD rx-5700 xt, BSOD 24/7. Bought a cheaper micro atx board from gigabyte and I’m still rocking and no errors or bsod. Ohh and I have an AMD cpu 🙂 Never assrock again…
In my case, my Asus card killed two 3080 back in 2021… thank god I could return them with no issue under a suspicion of just purchasing a faulty card two times lol

Were the cpus on liquid cooling? Which is the requirement for the cpus.
I’ve had my 5800x3d with the same mobo going strong for 4 months now.
I’ve got it going at -30 but this still gets super hot with custom liquid cooling.
It hits about 70c with demanding games but I do have an ambient of about 30c (which is much too high but I can’t control the heating in my apartment :/)
