CDPR DEV: ‘2077 WAS JUST A WARM-UP

Is there a precedent for stories to take place in other cities in the game? Like I know in the table top version players can do whatever they want but I’ve gotten the impression that most missions take place in or around Night City. Other cities are mentioned as part of the wider world of course but usually just as places people are coming from or going to in the course of business in Night City. Would it work for them to let the player like drive further out and find other cities if the settings arent really established in the lore?

Would be pretty cool to see the world away from the one city a bit but I could also see just making a bigger deeper version of Night City being pretty cool.

Kinda hate marketing statements like this. “X was nothing, watch this shit” *fails at backflip attempt*. Who are they even fooling? Like we can’t see 2077 is a giant ambitious game and consumed ages of complicated additions and fixes lol.

  3. Panaqueque

Good to see they’ve learned their lesson and are now properly managing expectations

  4. It sounds more like a warning about the launch, this time the game will be half done with twice the bugs.

  5. CourierFive

They were pretty humble last few years and did great job on 2077 after release. I wish they could stay that way.

  6. malautomedonte

3 years after launch and still fixin. hope the next warm-up lasts a bit less.

  7. Please CDPR just stop this shit and focus on the game i beg of you.

I feel like the only way they can fuck this game up is if the engine ends up feeling jank and the movement/gunplay isn’t as fun.

i was expecting pawel to make that quote. i guess the delusion is spreading. cdpr games traditionally launch with a hint of jank. a curse of their in-house engine designs? or just their way of saying “ we added spice to the dessert, we chef!”

  10. Oh god they’re doing the same mistake again.

  11. Bogdansixerniner

No it’s called a lesson. A lesson not learned apparently.

  12. Killeraholic

Oh god, they are getting over-confident again because they are going to use Unreal Engine now huh?

You guys are over-exaggerating. Saying the last game was ‘just a warm-up’ doesn’t really constitute much of anything. Could be just a warm-up in how to get a game right. Stop being so fatalistic!

If Phantom Liberty is a taste of things to come I’m so ready for the next game.

All I’d want on top now is the cyber world stuff to be in there, and ideally a version of the net runner card game and it’s my perfect game.

I’d envision the cyberverse as a map that runs parallel to the real world map , something like the underdark area in breath of the wild 2. You know how in that game if you want to get under a certain place you might have to go down a hole in another area and find route from there, that’s very similar to how I think it could work. Like you might have an access point in a shop somewhere that has a backdoor access route into someone else’s servers and so on and I guess arisaka would also be like a big tower with levels to get through to find stuff and this is the kind of area where you could get things like and tech upgrades blueprints from. But it’s not 1:1 with the real world map, places that would have a bigger servers and more presence would have larger area of the cyber map

Can’t fucking wait. This game was exceptional as was everything else they’ve made. The Witcher 4 and Project Orion will clean the fuck up in their respective Game Awards for sure!

  16. PreferablyCute1824

Can’t wait cp was a masterpiece with its final additions and patches. Looking forward to every expansion of the cyberpunk universe that we can get. Y’all’s jokes are cringey btw lol like they didn’t end up overdelivering on cyberpunk by the end of it all. They’re devving in ue5 now and most likely gonna massively increase dev staff. The game will end up being legendary I can feel it all those devs are so fuckin pumped and I can’t blame em

  17. NetQvist

Man…. I can already feel my top end system is barely going to run it and anyone else might as well get a refund X_X

Should join those patientgamer guys but alas I’m a greedy fucker that needs to try everything.

It’s a one-off tweet the narrative director posted, likely just excited to be working on the new project. Hardly an official company statement. Of course Insider Gaming Dot Com snapped it up like a vulture and ran it as a headline and here we are. No need to tut and wag your fingers saying they haven’t learned their lesson over one guy’s excited tweet

If this time they deliver exactly the game they promised from the very beginning, I will be satisfied – I’m talking about the 2018 Demo and all its features, because the game we received has nothing to do with 2018 Demo.

I’m talking about: Stronger RPG elements, Quest decisions should will have bigger relevance in the world, The most believable city in any open-world game to date, Lifepaths that are meaningful, A polished bugless game and smooth experience, Weapon customization, Vehicle customization, Third Person Cutscenes and more – All of this was promised in different interviews, trailers or shown at Demo 2018.
