But it has pre installed macos, so it’s a win, you know?

Now see power consumption is bad. So a powerful pc is a bad pc. Having more power consumption is not a flex. It’s like saying your battery life lasts shorter.

I paid $700 for an m1 MacBook Air and it is way sleeker and performs better for what I need than a similarly priced windows laptop so idk maybe the meme just ain’t memeing

I buy for the battery life, not the raw performance. Raw performance is what my PC is for.

I’m intensely jealous of how cheap cars are for you guys.

In Brazil a Corolla is 125x minimum wage

Consoles and Apple devices live rent free in yalls heads

This was true before M1, but not true now.

Pc builders when they pay 1600 dollars for a gpu

The design is pretty nice tbh, and it’s a good workstation

tsehehe…remember when I encountered my first Mac in the wild some decades back at the university…

started the thing up, checked out the UI etc. and proceeded to start programs needed…alas, I was noob then, didn´t know the darned apple mouse only had ONE button…so I reported that thing as broken – somebody eventually told me how to “right click” on a Mac…what a BS design…

same dude told me, they are stable as hell…challenge accepted…took me about five minutes to have the thing break down to kernel level / command prompt never to recover – lol

overpriced BS imho…but there are or have been some nice programs exclusive to those round edge boxes

laptops are another thing…I mean, they do run very, very long starting with a 100% battery…friend of mine reported getting on a plane in HK, 14-ish hours later landed in FFM and still had >50% left, all while working, watching movies, listening music…that´s kinda neat but then again, I wouldn´t buy it just for that

Having 64gb of vramish memory lets me futz about with bigger LLMs locally than I can on my desktop PC which is pretty cool.

Oh boy, here we go again. So before anyone accuses me of being an Apple fanboy, I don’t even own a Mac because I am a gamer and gaming on Mac is a joke.

So that being said, there is nothing pc side of things that can compete with Apple silicon while matching battery life and power efficiency. Full stop. A MacBook has i5/r5 desktop tier performance in a laptop, and also lasts for 20 hours on just 1 charge.

If you need a powerful laptop and don’t need a powerful gpu, you’d be stupid not to go MacBook

lol. Who seriously buys a Mac for gaming?

Macs are awful for gaming but great for the professional work life and for class. The trackpad is second to none, way less glitchy from any corporate IT space I’ve worked on (TBF, Macs can’t be substituted for some shit $200 HP or Lenovo).

Love my Mac for work and school.

    Love my PC for play

    Both can be true

Those M1 chips are no joke but the real joke is the pricing of the RAM.

I doubt Mac people even care about performance. I’ve had some colleagues that made the surprised Pikachu face when they realized they can’t just install Windows software on their Macs.

I got a MacBook Pro in 2013 for college. It still runs like it’s brand new today and my mom uses it to pay her bills. We have had a few laptops in my family over the years, not a single windows laptop lasted more than 2 years without something major happening and us having to take it somewhere to get fixed.

And let’s be real here, and I say this as someone who has dove deep down the windows rabbit hole, OSX blows windows out of the water for the vast majority of people’s needs. It looks nicer, and it’s piss-easy to learn (arguably the most important aspect most people want from an OS).

If I wasn’t into gaming, I wouldn’t have much of a reason to stick with windows other than for like a work laptop where something like excel is required. Yes prices are expensive now but my point is I could just stick with that 2013 MacBook Pro and honestly have a better overall experience than getting a new windows laptop today.

Its only expensive if you’re broke. Can’t relate sorry

Intel based MacBooks, absolute ass. Still loved the OS, but not the hardware. M1 or newer MacBooks, insane battery and perfect for general computing.

Maybe one day it’ll pick up for actual gaming and not Apple Arcade gaming, but it isn’t fully there yet. Still pretty cool you can play big name games on it like BG3 natively though.

  19. I love PC’s. I’ve built a dozen just in the last year.

But for 8k video editing, my M2 Mac Studio absolutely spanks my 14900k/4090 system. It’s not even close.

It’s all about using the right tool for the job.
