I, like most people LOVE Keanu Reeves but can accept he’s not perfect as an actor. He can definitely have some stilted line deliveries and can just seem out of it. However for this character I think it works perfectly.

Never cared for his action movies much growing up just loved him as a person but the love I have for the game has made me a HUGE Keanu Reeves fan. When I’m not playing (only 40 hours in), I’ve been watching Wick and Speed just imagining it as an alternative past timeline before Arasaka abd how that changed him as a person.

No. It’s a fine performance, and the writing is great. But he’s so much better in other films because you can see his full range. Johnny Silverhand feels a tad one dimensional at times, plus as a voice only actor, we aren’t getting the full Keanu.
I think this performance is fantastic for sure. But not his best. I think Johnny Silverhand is similar in vibe to The Matrix, which definitely makes it iconic in that regard. Better than Speed certainly. Better then Point Break, but I think he was there more for his looks at that time, eye candy. Better than Chain Reaction, but that’s probably a writing thing, cause that film was fun as a popcorn flick but really mediocre writing. He was fucking BRILLIANT in Devils Advocate, but he also had massive costars in Charlize Theron and Al Pacino who could have carried him. John Wick is iconic and I think really shows his action chops plus his acting range. Really too good. and, surprisingly, his softer side in Somethings Got To Give, even as a secondary character, was fantastic. So I’d put those last three as better performances than Silverhand.

“Goodbye V and never stop fighting” is my top Keanu line, was, is and will be unless they hook him up for Orion somehow.

It’s curious. When I see his original look in the rulebook that comes with the game,it doesn’t look at all similar to what the original author created.
But if one question who resembles more the “ex soldier turned musician who is resentful of his time in the Army and hates the (not so much)invisible powers” then the answer for me is obvious: Keanu’s Johnny.
He was also pretty awesome on “A Scanner Darkly” with Wynona Ryder, Robert Downy Jr and Woody Harrelson.

It’s a good performance. But there are dozens of better and more interesting video game characters out there, many not voiced by celebrities.
Keanu himself, in my opinion, is not a very good actor. I love him and his roles, but he otherwise tends to deliver very stiff, monotoned lines. The more dialogue he has, the more obvious it is.

He was all right here no doubt, but movies are definitely excellent performances far beyond this. Might just be because the camera is centered around him rather than him butting in every now and then
You should watch more of his movies. He’s a damn fine actor.
I think it’s cool that Keanu is in the game and he absolutely looks the part. But I think the dialogue isn’t written well and it doesn’t really play to his strengths as an actor. IMO Keanu is best at expressing shock and bewilderment and quiet determination. I’d rank most of his big movie performances above this, and I think any number of other actors could’ve slotted into the roll and handled it just fine.
I love Keanu. He acts to have fun and never tries too hard. He’s been in a lot of movies I love (some in spite of him *cough cough* Dracula*cough*) and while I love him as Johnny Silverhand, I think his best actual acting role is the first John Wick. So much depth to that character in everything he did but too many just write it off as a standard action film with a ‘dumb and unrealistic motive.’
I think he’s a great actor in stuff he belongs in. Cyberpunk, action movies, comedies, some real life drama. He isn’t some Shakespearean actor but he has an undeniable presence and charisma. He’s one of the few actors I’ll pay money to see a movie just for his name on the poster. I’ve basically grown up and he’s been awesome in every phase of my life. When I was a kid he was great in Speed, The Matrix, and Bill and Ted, etc. During my adult years he has been great in Cyberpunk, John Wick, etc. He’s probably my favorite all around actor and he keeps doing great work imo.
“Aguilar you Saucy Señor” will never not make me laugh like a nutcase everytime.
Honorable mention to Man of Tai Chi, where dude is the main villain and was giving an almost “crazy Nic Cage”-level performance lol

Damn I can’t see anyone else as Johny Silverhand. Whatever the Live Action project is, Keanu Reeves may be the best person to portray him.
His best performance is the matrix imo, because his limited skills as an actor works well in that particular role. A bit like how Schwarzenegger was very good in Terminator and Terminator 2.
In CP77, he does an adequate job, as he does in most of his roles. Don’t get me wrong, there aren’t many famous people I like more than Keanu, he seems like a rare gem in how wholesome he is as a person, but he is a mediocre actor at best, and his success is a mystery to me.
The best is bold. The man has made some of the most commercially succesful and critically acclaimed films of all time. Regardless it is an incredible performance, certainly top 10.
