Wtf. Maybe it’s connected to hidden cameras around the how to see you and spy on you ?

All those failing electrolytics really tie the room together.
Also, AGP, ISA, and is that… AMR? I haven’t seen those in ages.
repodude
Wow, that’s a seriously old board – Socket 462!
I wonder what the backstory is.

Someone tried a little retro art. The only thing that makes sense.

It would appear you’re in a safe space.

Asus board? I seem to recall them using that gold look on their mobos a lot.
Via Southbridge, AGP, PCI, ISA….man, what memories. However, I do not miss IDE cables (master/slave was something that always made me uncomfortable, and is that a socket for a daughterboard on the left side?

Shit, I was so wrong, I forgot the scale of the ISA slots. Turns out it is a DFI Mobo (I didn’t start going for DFI board until the 939 glory years). [https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/dfi-ak74-ec](https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/dfi-ak74-ec)

The ONLY thing connected there is possibly a cpu and the cooler, no ram, no power cables, nothing in the PCI slots, just nothing, best guess would be an OLD open air setup from the owner that they took apart and they never unmounted the mobo from the wall for whatever reason.

Because that’s where I used to keep my file server, right next to where the cable modem was coming in to the house connected to my 12 port switch. I didn’t have a case for it so I just screwed it to the wall and kept the rest of the parts in a milk crate.
(That’s not actually me but that’s exactly what I did in the late 90’s in my basement laundry)
dfisherman12
They are using the cpu fan to disperse heat in the laundry room of course

Talk about ease of cleaning! Just pop that into the wash and screw it back on.

Someone saved their dead motherboard as either art or an example of bad caps.

Now it’s time for the real question: does it run Crysis?
jerk_chicken6969
Looks like one of those boards that were a victim of the bad cap plague.

Maybe it’s covering something on the wall?

Lovely: IDE disk interface, parallel port on the rear panel, AGP video card slot, and five PCI slots, with a single black ISA on the edge of the board for your one remaining ‘old’ card you just can’t give up (modem or old sound blaster maybe).
Difficult to predict CPU as it may be one of several generations.

most capacitors are blown. the electrolytic fluid was defective and like billions of them died over the next 20 years. can see them bubbled up

That’s a neat piece of computer history. I was in college when this came out. Helped another college student build an AMD Thunderbird system, possibly with this same model board.

I’d be okay with manufacturers bringing back those conveniently side-facing and easy-to-access front panel pinouts.
