  1. What the hell, how can someone be this stupid.

  2. Dingdongbats

This looks like some people’s chairs that are posted here. Did they own one of those chairs and sit on this chip?

  3. Careless-Tradition73

Nope. thermal paste is used to fill in the little holes you cant even see on the top of the CPU, this would require something on an industrial scale.

  4. RoadkillVenison

While it’s not, assuming it works, lapping it should get rid of any issues caused by this stupidity.

They’re on crack to be asking $290 though. That’s like new prices on something I might be willing to gamble a tenner on.

  5. RobinYiff

Oh my stars! This just gave me chest pains!

  6. LeJinsterTX

I know it looks ugly as hell, but would it actually cause any issues with the CPU?

  7. Zorex112

You can get i5 13600kf/14600kf almost same price brand new. And it wont be that much slower.

  8. Lone_Wanderer357

Looks like a horrible attempt at hiding an egineering /qualifying sample lol

  9. Ballerfreund

From the discolouration I‘d say the owner used liquid metal

  10. You can buff it out. I will take a **long** time and you’ll have to be careful to keep it as flat as possible, but you can.

Delidding and using a custom IHS would probably be easier.

  11. I’d pay about half that, knowing I’ve got a CPU which has been abused and needs work done on it.

  13. How many people tried to swipe to the next image?

  14. EightSeven69

I just slice the die with a lightsaber

  15. PenguinsRcool2

Looks like someone tried to lap it with like the most aggressive sandpaper ever lol

  16. human_flavor_meat

I usually use an angle grinder on mine

  17. Deceiver999

Steel wool? That looks like the work of a screwdriver.

  18. JunkRatAce

Tbh steel wool would do a much better job than this 😆

  19. Don’t be silly, this is the work of a screwdriver

  20. Suspicious-Cash9386

I mean… more surface area, more cooling potential right?

  21. Nicademus2003

No… that’s what isopropyl alcohol and a paper towel is for…

  22. LowQualitySpiderman

If it works, it isn’t stupid.

  23. Rabbit_AF

They are just custom lapping the CPU. It’s going to get really good temps now.

  24. That will actually effect the performance too since it basically just added a ton of micro grooves…. Which the point of thermal paste is to fill in

  25. Death2Gnomes

Well, now it has grooves to hold more paste.

  26. tesmatsam

my guy decide to lap the cpu but left halfway through

  27. It’s a key for the AS thermal adhesive, makes it easy to pull the socket off the board.

  28. JakkoWasHere

I swiped right atleast 5 times. Re launched the app because it was lagging. Then I tried again swiping right yet it still didnt work. THEN I restarted my phone and tried yet again to swipe. I only then realized that it was only one singular photo.

All of the scratches increase surface area, and therefore increase the amount of heat you can radiate.
