  2. NoBackground6203

Wow, looks like the guy who owned it before you figured out he should of got a 7800x3d

Well it’s not new, I’ll tell you that much. It should come off with some isopropyl alcohol though.

It’s not new. It even says its NFR. This was given to a channel partner for testing or review. I doubt you bought this new. If you did… someone scammed you.

That is not to say it doesn’t work, and you can clean it up, but there is no way this should have been passed off as new.

Not new for sure ! And no it is not a standard because the paste go on the top of the CPU not under the CPU.

Not new. Someone pulled a fast one on Amazon. Return it for a new.

  7. All i can say is youre lucky that thing isnt AM4 or you would have a really fun time cleaning it

  8. Cool! An NFR CPU is usually a *very* high quality binned die.

It’s not new, but you hit the jackpot.

  9. The best case scenario is this is the one pulled off the line to test it properly, so they pasted and mounted it and ran through the benchmarks as part of a quality control test. Then they just forgot to clear it after.

    Worst case is everything else.

  10. Does AMD make LGA cpus? I thought they only do pins

    standard procedure trust me

Sorry, but that’s not new. Get your money back. Also, buy a 7800x3D instead.

    Return that as pre-owned, damaged.

Silcon cannot as we know it grow mold.

That’s thermal paste that was incorrectly applied by the original purchaser, who then returned it when it failed to boot.

Whoever accepted the return put it back on the shelf without cleaning it up… That’s never how a NEW cpu should arrive… I’m guessing that it wasn’t even tested. DO NOT use this cpu in your motherboard, return it and make a complaint… You might get a discount..

Cpu’s never usually come with ANY thermal paste applied, but IF they do YOU need to peel off the plastic layer and unseal it, it will also NEVER be on the underside of the cpu, the instructions will tell you to make sure you don’t leave it longer than 20 mins before attaching the cpu cooler.

I have seen cpu coolers with paste applied beforev(I always remove with isopropyl alcohol and reapplied a decent grade of paste) with a seal but I have never seen a cpu with it applied before! I worked in a pc repair shop for a long time (11 years) and built 1000’s of machines in that time from base components and can’t remember a single instance where I installed a cpu that did…

  14. Thats a channel mistake with a return getting pushed out again, defective or not. Since its Amazon just return and get a new one imo.

Where did you buy it from?

I would return it for a replacement if i were you. There might be something wrong with it that you wont find out until later. Also, you paid for a new product. Not for a used one.

    Contact your place of purchase.

The new wave is to put thermal paste in the cpu slot.

    (This is a joke)

not new. i’d get a refund asap, regardless of if you can clean it and get it to work

that’s in case you get hungry during assembly.

Pc manufacturers discovered that the long hours it took to assemble a PC caused people to work right through eating. Then the assemblers would make costly mistakes.

The manufacturers figured some food paste high in what you need- would be just the thing for a busy assembler. No need to leave the build to go eat, no need to wash hands since the paste comes in a single serve squeeze pack.

I’d suggest waiting until you get the CPU seated and you are power testing the system to try this delightful treat. ( that way you can save it as you hear the PC come to glorious life – and you probably will reflect on those poor millions of assemblers thst came before you that never got to try that wonderfully tasty food treat you just had)

  19. Show this to LTT maybe they’ll be interested in it

  20. if_im_not_back_in_5

Absolutely not, return it as used.
