I was gifted a 5800X on Christmas from my mother as she knew I have not upgraded my PC in a while. I upgraded from a Ryzen 2700 running a manual OC at 4.0GHz @1.35V.
I decided to get into undervolting, instead of traditional overclocking, as it seems everyone nowadays with the Ryzen 5000 chips are doing due to the super high Temps and voltage with base boost. So far, my BIOS settings are as follows:
Advanced\AMD Overclocking\Precision Boost Overdrive
– Precision Boost Overdrive: Advanced
– PBO Limits: Manual
– PPT Limit [W]: 142
– TDC Limit [A]: 95
– EDC Limit [A]: 140
– Precision Boost Overdrive Scalar: Auto
– Curve Optimizer: Negative 30 per core
– Max CPU Boost Clock Override: Positive (+) 100MHz
– Platform Thermal Throttle Limit: Auto
Regarding AI Tweaker settings, just the basic D.O.C.P. DDR4-3000, BLCK Frequency = 100, FLCK Frequency = 1500MHz, and everything else set to Auto.
Current Setup:
CPU Cooler: Dark Rock 4
Motherboard: ASUS STRIX B450-I
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2×8 3000MHz CL14
GPU: ASUS STRIX RTX 2070 Super OC
PSU: Corsair CX650m
Case: Fractal Meshify C Mini w/ 6 Corsair LL Fans (4 120mm & 2 140mm)
I am not entirely sure if I was just blessed by the Silicon gods, but I find it hard to believe my CPU is 100% stable after starting at the base Negative 5 per core for Curve Optimizer and 0MHz Override and working my way up adding 5 everytime I would pass a Cinebench R23 in High priority, 2 OCCT Stability Tests (one for each Data Set type), and Sp00n’s CoreCycler running for 12~16hrs overnight and while at work using Y-Cruncher with 2 threads per core set at 12 minutes per core and 60 seconds per test. For both OCCT Stability Tests, I would run 1 hour of Large Data Set, Extreme Mode, Variable Load Type, Start at Cycle: 1, Auto/AVX2 Instruction Set, and Auto Thread Settings. If that didn’t throw any BSOD’s or WHEA crashes, then another test would be ran directly after with Small Data Set, Normal Mode, Variable Load Type, Start at Cycle: 2, SSE Instruction Set, and Thread Settings Auto/Core Cycling with 2 threads per core. If both of those passed, I would then run a CoreCycler stress test using Prime95, then shortly switching to Y-Cruncher for all future tests after researching more about it, for 12~16 hours overnight and/or while I am at work. My clock speed has gotten as high as ~4860 all core stress testing and ~4820 single core stress testing with temps NEVER exceeding ~80°C with spikes of ~83°C and CPU Core Voltage sitting healthily around 1.35~1.37, with rare spikes of 1.39~1.41, but usually only during CoreCycler stress testing. I still have another 100MHz Boost left in the BIOS, and I have not yet had to lower my CO negative setting or lower/raise my power limits.
Now, I’ve been working in IT professionally for 3+ years and 10+ years of personal experience with a background in network administration, along with having OCD and falling on the spectrum of ASD. I am absolutely certain I researched a minimum of 10~20 total hours combined Regarding what programs to use, settings to try or stay away from, starting at the base motherboard power limits for said CPU model, not touching Boost Override until you dial in the negative offset for Curve Optimzer, etc. I’ve read probably 3 dozen articles regarding 5800X and 5900/5950X undervolting guides, and I have yet to find one person who has been as successful as me to not have a SINGLE crash, BSOD, WHEA error/crash, PC power cycling after restart from BIOS, nothing.
Does anyone have any extra advice on whether I should take this to the forums and post my results there, or just hop in a game and see what my single core boosts and Temps hit? Appreciate anyone with insight and all future comments!

Don’t know about silicon lottery in this case with those pbo settings, seem a tad high for 4850.
I am running a 5700x (which is practically a shittier bin of 5800x) at 120-75-110 -30 on all core +200 mhz pbo.
Getting about 15.5k-15.6k on cinebench r23 and i’ve run occt p95 and y cruncher for hours on end rock stable.
Tried lowering to +175 and gained lower perfomance so i am guesssing i am not clock stretching.
I am getting 4.7-8ish on all core workloads and 4.8-4.85ish on one/two core.
The highest temp was 80c on the y-cruncher stress test.
Anyways i would try to lower your pbo settings a bit and check if you can get additional mhz.
What Cinebench r23 score are we talking about? I hate PBO because it just clock stretches instead of crashing and so you think that you’re doing great and that you’re getting an amazing frequency, then you try manual overclock and a lower frequency gets a higher score and you’re like eh :/ I wish I knew it before testing 300 different settings for months.
