But we all know it’s really rich kids with awesome PCs screwing us all.

Gaming as an adult: Of course I lost, I didn’t spend money on micro-transactions so they put me in a sweat lobby to punish me.

Approaching 40 and my reflexes aren’t what they use to be and have never been too good with sniping in FPS games, but sometimes in VR shooters I just excel with a sniper and often get called a kid, makes me smile 🙂

Nearly 41 and realising my skill level in CS2 is nowhere near what it was in 1.6.

Age is just a number, and so is your speed! Embrace the wisdom that comes with experience, and remember, life is a marathon, not a sprint. Did you know that the world’s oldest marathon runner is 101 years old? Keep moving forward! 🏃♂️

As an adult, I feel content with having a slightly above the average winrate as I had 20 years ago.

You’re supposed to leverage your experience more than your physical abilities as you age. Just saying. It’s not about free time, it’s about taking your hobbies seriously or not and being able to be critical of yourself more than the circumstances.

I’m close to 40, and still play Doom Eternal on nightmare and ultra-nightmare. I’m good… for now.

Reaction times do slow as we age. Play a slower game.

Theory holds up. I used to dominate the servers during covid.

It’s not age dragging us down – it’s back and neck pain causing distraction after a bit of gaming, too much overall stress and chronic lack of sleep that kills reaction time and decision making. None of those were a problem when I was younger, and if I get good few days of rest, I can game just as well (if not better) as I could 15 years ago.

There is a golden age for gaming just like for sports. Late teens – early – mid twenties.

See, my parents never let me spend enough time gaming as a kid to get good back then anyway. I _still_ don’t really have enough uninterrupted free time to play multiplayer games.
But single player games, I’m so much better as an adult. There’s no way I would’ve ever finished Lies of P as a kid/teenager. I would’ve thought it was way too hard. Hell, I couldn’t even finish Mario 64 when I was a kid.
Still suck at shooters, though.

In my 20ish years of gaming I’ve never heard anyone complaing about “adults with better PCs”. wtf
Better PCs in general? Maybe.
Specifically adults? Nope.

Jokes on you, I’m 19 and my reaction time is like 3 seconds because I don’t focus at all on the actual game (thank you ADHD for this glorious thing)
azionka
My reaction time is sure tuned down with the years
Zess-57
I’m 16 and I hate it too, more specifically because I don’t really enjoy most multiplayer games, people keep wanting games to be faster and faster until it turns into a seizure simulator

You have to just outfox the little shits. Double back when they charge in. Circle around. Abuse the high ground.

It might be but I’ve realized we can sleep better and have more focus, sometimes I’m playing like an alien and sometimes I just kill myself out of stupidity lol

I’m 62 and competitive in iracing. I am only assuming most drivers are much younger than me but that’s only a guess.

Ngl now that I am 29 I play like I never have before; especially reflected in FPSs. I don’t feel like I’ve entered cognitive decline, though it could start later on in my 30’s. Regardless, PVP is way more demanding now than it was years ago as more people play it, therefore there’s more competition now.
theuntouchable2725
I’ve just stopped caring tbh. I’m only playing single players nowadays. We have gems like Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3.
