Your first PCI slot is metal, is the slot your GPU currently in metal?
Stop using that slot. Get a case and screw the GPU into the case.

The gpu goes on the motherboard after the motherboard is fitted into the case. The case has slots that the back of the GPU (where the ports are) sits and there will be a screw that holds the GPU into the case.

You should really be using a crapy gpu like a gt710 for a test boot
The gpu goes into the first slot, and is screwed into the case. Remove it, place the mobo in the case, screw it in (in case you forget) and then place the gpu in the first slot and screw it
The closest slot the CPU has metal reinforcement to help with the sag. When you install everything into a case, get something to prop up the graphics card, so it does not sag. Some heavy cards are cracking PCBs or ripping pads on PCBs like RTX 4090s. Youtubers, Northwestrepair and Northridge Fix, have videos about PCB damage from heavy cards. Also, be applicable to heavy AMD cards.

The top slot is not just faster, proper for a GPU, as is also surrounded by metal to provide stronger support for it.

Not if it’s just for short term. If it works it works. Maybe use the lid of a shoe box so the GPU plate(thingy with the display port) can rest on the table, greatly reduces the angle of sag

A lot of people comment that gpu should be in the first slot, but don’t specificy why. The reason to put it in the first slot, is because its pcie x16 and the bottom one is usually pcie x8, thus meaning lower throughput, and less performance form your gpu.

Newer cards are bigger and heavier than older generations. It’s pretty hard to support a heavy GPU like that without being in the case first. I agree with others. The top PCIEe slot is most likely the x16 lane where it would be best to connect your GPU. Check the manual for your board. It will explain the PCIe slots and lane speeds. Also look into buying a gpu support bracket or support arm if your gpu didn’t come with one. Sagging is not good and puts stress on your PCIe slot.
These cases usually have a post you screw the GPU into, you’re currently bending the PCB

Yes, and there would be more trouble if it’s the slot which is coming out of its joints. Remove the GPU and get the slot & GPU checked by someone experienced.
