Now given that Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk universe is based on the real world up until 1980s, it wouldn’t be a far stretch to think that all this theorizing leads to nowhere lol 😛

Cyberpunk 2080? It’s more rounded than 2079.
Nawrotex
There’s some lore around Night City that hints on another corporate war starting soon in the span of the next 3 years, so It’d not be far fetched to say it might be the main plot of Orion.
Express_Character253
I have a feeling atleast some of the game is going to take place on the moon
KeyboardWarrior1988
People forget that Night City is Cyberpunk, it won’t be set in any other place.

Glad to know my city still exists in 2077
poggerswow

PM-ME-CGI-BUTTS
prediction;
night city is to chiba city,
as orion is to freeside,
orion is the target, the sprawl is the path

Nice! I’ll be a ripe, young 86 when it drops!

That’s just the new cross-country maglev being built, which is not that small part of the lore.
For example when you choose the panam-ending, you enter the Arasaka-Tower through the tunnels being built for said maglev.

Where does the name Orion come from?

I honestly wondered the same from that ad, if Chicago might be the next location. It would be really cool if they had that idea from the beginning
UV_Halo
I think you might be onto something here given that the Sync app jokes that our files were last updated 54 years ago, and that 54 years from now is 2077. So, plus three years would be 2080.
Is it possible that CD Projekt Red could have the new game done three years from now? I think it might be. given that they started development of CP 2077 in 2016, and released in 2020 (according to Wikipedia).

What would be cool though it won’t happen is the games linked kinda like TTW did with fallout 3 and NV

No
Nice catch 😁
Worry-Free, eh? Equisapiens confirmed!
So Cyberpunk orion is coming in 2080 ?
Could be!
Who knows. Destiny was teased by Bungie inside Halo 3 ODST way back then before they announced a thing
This is just a reference to the maglev train completion date.
I doubt it.
The definition of “Orion” is as follows:
> a group of stars in the sky that looks like a hunter with a line of three bright stars for a belt [(Source)](https://www.britannica.com/dictionary/Orion#:~:text=Britannica%20Dictionary%20definition%20of%20ORION,in%20stories%20from%20Greek%20mythology.)
Now [take a look at Chicago’s flag](https://www.britannica.com/topic/flag-of-Chicago), it’s got 4 stars.

It’s almost like NC in several ways. [https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/Chicago](https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/Chicago)
This all lines up. Next corporate war coming soon is a huge possibility for the next game
So is Night City just supposed to be a rebranded Las Vegas?
