I can definitely see why they’d be mad, it gets very annoying having to be shovelled to something new because company X wants you to.
The last part poking *cough cough* Sony *cough cough* for just removing digital content the end user paid for is stupid though, digital media like that should just 100% give you the option of an offline download. Physical media for movies/shows can be ripped off the CD from the box, what makes digital media so different that they can’t include an mp4? (rhetorical question)

Lol they are complaining about nothing. Windows 11 is a free update and the in place upgrade install from 10 to 11 is surprisingly reliable at mostly just working without causing issues.
20 years ago, it actually costed *money* to upgrade to a newer operating system and had a much higher chance of an in place upgrade install causing massive problems.
Their complaints about printers are valid though.

Funny thing is that Ubuntu (which I use) updates every couple of years and I don’t even mind. It’s not like the new versions are that much different from the previous ones. As for LTS, they have it, but I don’t even need it, because why would I want to use an older version.

It wouldn’t be so bad if any computer that can run 10 could run 11, but Microsoft insists you have a specific version of a TPM chip and a supported processor in order to be able to install it. You have to replace your entire computer, even if it’s relatively recent and still has plenty of life left.

I stayed with windows 7 for a long long time before moving to 10. I only got about 3 years with windows 10 before they said they wanted to get rid of it.
Though with my recent switch to Linux, I’m a bit less concerned about it. Though I’d rather not have to move my dualboot of windows 10 to being windows 11.

Ok but why do you need official support from windows? It’s not like software devs all around the world are gonna stop making things compatible with Windows 10. Most people are going to stay on 10 even after official support is dropped. Your new steam releases aren’t suddenly gonna become Windows 11 exclusives. There’s not even any good new features in 11 that would encourage devs to do such a thing.
Just stay on 10 and tell windows to suck it. That’s what millions of us did with Windows 7.

Completely agree. Windows, boots one day …blue screen next …back to working next day? Android auto, doesn’t work one day works another day. Wasted today 4h trying to boot s PC and then it’s fine like nothing happened. Chrome doesn’t launch anymore…had to be reinstalled. No viruses all updated…what’s it’s problem. But wait everything new gets released broken and still needs updates.

Reminds me of the time where I bought a HP laserprinter for some work documents along with a brand-new 110€ toner… only for it to update and go “lol, aftermarket toner bad, go buy HP toner for 250€”. Took me a few hours to downgrade the firmware and be able to use it with aftermarket toners again. The list of companies that will never ever see a penny of my hard-earned money is increasing rapidly.

Windows 10 is not the same OS as it was in 2015. It changed so much you could almost argue it’s a different OS, I wish they did similar to 8 and 8.1 where they had different EoS dates but for single versions. But since Windows 10 was planned to be the last version here they are making us think we’ve been running the same pile of crap for 10 years

Easier to understand is when your job relate to coding, you code for many year, then they just decide to scrap and update you onto newer “better” code. Which you have to re learn everything again, while you in middle of your job
