I think T Bug should carry most of the blame. We got her in the subnet, and it still took her hours to pierce the black ICE. According to the plan, it should have taken only a few minutes. Jackie and V should have been drinking in the Afterlife while Saburo was being murdered.

If jackie hadn’t been a gonk and listened to V and Vik , he would have been alive
PADDYPOOP
I kill them every time too, but let’s be honest here, jackie died because he fucking agreed to pull a heist on Arasaka tower.
No_Tamanegi
Not really either Netwatch or the Voodoo Boys fault. It was Evelyn who set up the gig with a fixer she bought on Wish.

If not for Jackie he’d still be alive. He was clearly out of his depth.
No_Truce_
Nah. I killed them because they tried to kill Evelyn and V. But Jackie isn’t on them

The only person to blame for Jackie’s death is Jackie himself who signed up for gonked up heist.
Faded1974
Jackie is to blame for Jackie’s death because with autonomy comes responsibility.
PsychoWarper
Theres plenty of blame to go around tbh,
Jackie agreed to a heist way over his head.
T Bug took hours on a job that was supposed to take a couple minutes iirc.
Dex was fucking incompetent and had no back up plan.
Evelyn hired Dex and very clearly didnt think highly of him given she talked to you about cutting him out.
V also agreed to this insane plan because Jackie is his boy despite it clearly being a bad idea, if they had endgame V (Without the actual Brain Rot) sure fuck it he could do it himself but they didnt lol.

Let’s be real, everyone had a hand in the blame at Konpeki plaza.
V and Jackie should have known better than to think stealing from Arasaka would be a walk in the park, TBug should’ve anticipated there would be way more complications and that the ICE would be high, Dex should’ve known, at the very least, that Saburo had a chance of being there, and Evelyn should have been more aware of what was actually going on and what she was bringing everyone else into.
In the end, everyone was way in over their heads

Nope. You took the heist, you are responsible for what happened to you.

Not really? It was Dex’s fault, and maybe a bit of Evelyn’s for using a fixer like Dex. The plan he came up with left way too much out in the air, and relied too much on t-bug not hitting any snags with the soft the hotel was using. That’s not a good plan. If ur plan can be thrown off by ur hacker so badly that it delays u by hours, it was a bad plan.
Then there’s the fact that T-bug way oversold her abilities. Like I get the time being doubled, but if it’s tens of times longer than it’s implied it was supposed to have taken, ur runner is kinda trash. T-bug was decent for small gigs, but for big ones like this, she just wasn’t good enough at her task.

Everyone involved in the heist except for the VDBs and Judy is at least partially responsible for Jackie’s death, as far as I can tell. The VDBs literally tell Evelyn to get a BD of the room for them, and to not try to heist the chip.
If Ev had done as she was told, Jackie would be alive.
If Ev, choosing to heist the chip despite being specifically told to not do that exact thing, had not decided to get a has-been-at-best fixer with the intention of cutting out the middle man, Jackie would be alive.
If Dex had chosen an established crew, instead of a pair of wanna-bes and a wanna-not-be, Jackie would be alive.
If Dex hadn’t skimped on the recon, then the thick ICE would have been discovered beforehand, and Jackie would be alive.
If Jackie hadn’t been starstruck and desperate to make it big, Jackie would be alive.
If Jackie had prepared for possibly being wounded in the chest, such as with some of the integumentary or circulatory chrome available to V, Jackie would be alive.
If V had considered that maybe it’s a bad idea to rob the heir to Arasaka, in a hotel owned by Arasaka, and declined the job, Jackie would be alive.
If V, still deciding to take the job, had realized at any point that things were going wrong that should have been prepared for and weren’t, and insisted on extra caution as a result, Jackie would be alive.
If T had not somehow lost track of Yorinobu in a building full of cameras, Jackie would be alive.
If T hadn’t suggested that they hide in the pillar, and instead had told them about the ladder, Jackie would be alive.
If Delamain were less dedicated to sticking exactly to his itinerary, Jackie would be alive.
If Delamain were as prepared for medical emergencies as he allegedly is for gunfights, Jackie would be alive.
If Yorinobu hadn’t killed Saburo, Jackie would be alive.
If Yorinobu hadn’t stolen the chip in the first place, Jackie would be alive.
If Saburo hadn’t visited in person, Jackie would be alive.
If Saburo hadn’t told the bodyguards to leave the room, Jackie would be alive.
The VDBs suck, but that ain’t their dick in your ass. Kill ’em, sure, but at least do it because of something they’re actually responsible for.
