If you have friends to play with and want something more casual, deep rock.

Risk of rain is challenging, fast paced, and is better with friends but also fun without

Rock and stone or you ain’t coming home!!!

I have 300 hours in deep rock and 30 in risk of rain 2

Risk of rain gets stale, deep rock just continues to get better. I’m slightly worried about content recycling from deep rock devs right now, but my hopes are high for the future

I love both games too much to recommend one over the other… So both lol.

Ror2 is insanely addictive. Literally the first thing I download on every single machine I own, including my most current one

DRG probably has the most positive and welcoming community I have ever seen

I’ve only played DRG but has the best community of any game I’ve personally played. DRG has lots of replayability. Levels are procedurally generated and you won’t see similar set ups often. Many different gear configurations and weapons mods some of which drastically change the way they function. Matchmaking is present and is fine for most activities. DRG has some mod support. The base game has avenues to unlock cosmetics. There is a battle pass type progress for seasons and once the season ends all of its unlockables are added to the base game. There are only a few cosmetic sets that cost money. They mainly exist as another way to support a good game. I dumped 300 hours into it before I felt I needed a break. I highly recommend it.
