Don’t cope too hard though. Even ultimate PC shills like Linus and such recognize how great this laptop is.

MacBook airs are beasts. How many laptops in the $500 range still work well after 10 years? Even $1000
Any HP I have had has struggled after 3-5 years, and tends to break down before that.My MacBook Air lasted 10 years and it’s still going.
Apple has shown that there products are indeed worth the price.
Mother-Translator318
Intel MacBooks were just overpriced PCs. Apple silicon MacBooks on the other hand are arguably the best non gaming laptops price to performance. They really are that good.

The M1 Air with 16GB RAM is hands down the best machine money can buy in that price range for general / work use.
People thinking that a powerful laptop at the same price is a better deal are complete idiots, unless it’s for gaming.
That laptop will work very well for work for another 5-6 years and will still be viable for general browsing and everyday tasks in 10.
I have literally had dozens of laptops over the years, except for high-end ThinkPads, every Windows machine has been inferior to my Macbooks. They are loud, hot, uncomfortable and their battery sucks and let’s not mention how unreliable they have been.
Our 2014 Air is still kicking, still just as fast as it was 10 years ago. The only reason to upgrade is OS support.
idriveachevyandimgay
apple dickriders in these comments too 🤣
The_Dung_Beetle
If only the SSD was replaceable so they wouldn’t become e-waste when it’s worn out. Soldered RAM I can deal with but it’s lame with storage.
chrisjeligo
What 500 bucks laptop can do that?
Zanoss10
Exactly
But Apple Zombies will tell you that it’s still worth for work purpose which is bullshit !
Apple product are shitty and overpriced that’s all !

They never were ok.

I recently spilled one teaspoon of tea on my new M1 keyboard.
The keyboard, motherboard, power and screen all went. I tried to recover the data, and was told the memory was soldered to the motherboard, and I would need a new motherboard just to recover the data.
Does Apple just use the word pro for fun now? What the fuck computer does anyone want where you can’t recover your data?
Twenty year mac user. Never buying a Mac again for any reason

I literally just looked up m3 max vs i9 13900k benchmarks and the m3 was worse.. dunno what yall been smoking. Now that these machines are very performance consistant over time is nice, they probably dont overheat as much when you use it on your lap or couch. If you use a laptop normally though and take care of the temps it will also not lose much performance. I use all my laptops for around 8-10 years and have rarely seen any performance loss. Also a laptop with an m3 max is over 4k. I mean a 400 dollar ryzen is close in performance to a 2500 dollar m3 max… And here people are claiming better performance to price ratio. And for bloatware… Yea when i buy a machine first thing i do is wipe that shit and install my preferred os with 0 bloatware.

People don’t buy Apple products because they are powerful computing tools…they buy them because they look good using the expensive stuff at Starbucks.

Apple silicon is not for people in the sub. It’s for people who need a power efficient laptop that will blow through work related tasks. For what it’s worth, it runs WoW well which makes my girlfriend very happy.

Just overpriced chromebooks, as the only thing you can do on them is to run Chrome and that’s about it.

The comment section isn’t going as OP expected …
Except for gaming and raw components’ values, apple computers and phones just feel more responsive for everyday uses. This is especially true for non “expert” users.
I’ve had many asus and alienware, the components were high tier we can say if they were supposed to be a desktop compouter. The trackpad: shit, battery life: 1h after a year or so, integrability: none, do it yourself etc… Just a portable desktop with shitass laptop features.
The trackpad alone is a big one, I’ve never had a laptop that even come closer to what apple is delivering with their trackpad, not even close. My macbook is the only laptop I’ve never connected a mouse onto as it even feels unnatural and less responsive. This is a good example of a well designed laptop feature.
When I buy laptop I want a laptop not a “portable desktop”, apple makes laptops and competitors just make “portable desktop” that does everything worse than a desktop but are portable.

Ok, if anyone knows laptop which costs around 1k$, can work 5-6 hours without charging and is lightweight (preferably metal tho), please tell me the model. I do not like apple products due to their strategy of “you can’t fix it, you can’t upgrade it, just buy a new one”, so I’d rather buy windows laptop than a MacBook, but only if it really can be of same quality

Macs don’t run iOS lol
Affectionate_Gas_264
You don’t buy Mac for quality. Its for the brand. How would people know your a serious branded person without apple products
I mean if you don’t have an iPhone your probably smart and think for yourself instead of relying on marketing and influencers to choose what you do 😆
agent_abdullah
M1/M2/M3 laptops are some of the best non gaming laptops and that can’t be denied.(only issue I’ve heard of is the storage)
Affectionate_Gas_264
Tbh a non branded gaming. Laptop will outperform the branded stuff and only cost about 1500 unless you buy it from a store 😆

These comments make me super happy to see the lack of tribalism, I am proud of us!
I have an M1 MacBook Air for work and a PC for gaming. I love both for their designated purpose, and are both incredible machines.
Also “iOS” is their mobile OS, this would be a “MacOS” product.
Surprise-Fiat
Apple silicon is one of the best moves they’ve made, shame about them still walling off upgradability like always
fanboy_killer
The 16GB version? Absolutely. You won’t get a non-gaming PC with that performance at that price.
Perryvdbosch
Well I am happy with my Macbook air, although I only use it for my studies.

It’s very light, the battery lasts a long time and it’s fast.

Furthermore, they are not also made for gaming, so I don’t think it’s useful if people bring that up.

In the same time here: “I just bought RTX4090 at 1500$, it was in sell, a bargain!”

They are not, the M1 MacBook air was great at $999 when it came out 3 years ago. By now all budget laptops have caught up. Hell, I saw a 16g OLED i5 laptop with a GTX 3050 on sale for around $800 a few months ago.
